Hi. I have removed all of my wisdom teeth, under local anesthesia. Anesthetics numb the area where the tooth will be removed. So, it is perfectly normal to feel numbness after dental work. The recovery time is short - it takes only a few days. I was on pain killers during that period. I was bleeding for whole day after the surgery. If you feel numbness after the anesthetic wears off, you may have an inflammation of nerves in the jaw. Numbness that doesn`t go away is only a rare side effect.
