Hello. I'm 37 year old male.
About three weeks ago I have lived through minor car accident where I have injured my left ankle and nothing more. At least, I thought so!
But, all this time I have suffered from mild pain in my left upper abdomen. I thought that this is cause by simple blow in my abdomen during a crash and didn’t pay too much attention on it, but, pain was just getting stronger. I have found out that in this region of abdomen is settled one organ called spleen.
So, my question is, how could I be sure that this pain is really connected with spleen and if it is, what could cause it?

Yes, the spleen is located in the upper left corner of the abdomen but pain in this part of abdomen could also be caused by some process in you colon or even with your pancreas. Spleen in very important in your body and it has many functions because it helps in immunity, stores blood for the body and releases it when needed and destroys bacteria.
Spleen is often injured in car accidents and most sever symptoms are abdominal pain, guarding and tenderness in the upper left part of the abdomen, left shoulder pain and signs of blood loss.
The bad news is that spleen often doesn’t recover from injuries like these but the good news is that people can live without it quit normally.
