Hey guys,

I was in a car accident a few weeks ago. I was going 35 down a hill trying to slow down during the tornado and it was pitch black and I slammed right into a tree that had jsut fallen down. I had my seat belt on thank God! But maybe 2-3 days after the accident I was having stomach cramps but worse then period cramps. But before the accident I was taken off the birthcontrol called Implanon and so I was thinking it was my period about to start. Well day after day I kept getting these sharp pains right under my belly that would come and go but they would last a long time. So, I went to the doctor, told them about the cramps. They made me take a urine test and blood test. The test came back saying that my liver enzymes were elevated and that they want to do an abdominal ultrasound. So, im just scared that something it wrong. Everywhere I read it says that elevated liver enzymes means that you damaged your liver. I also have been having back pains. Can anyone give me some answers.

Just curious what your results were? My daughter is 15 and has been having various symptoms which include fever, chills and lack of energy. She had bloodwork done and we were told liver enzymes were elevated so we went for an ultrasound today I am hoping its something minor too!!

i went thru 2 weeks of nausea and vomiting before a sharp pain started in my upper right abdomen, i went to the ER and had a ct scan done because they thought it was apendicidis, not the case, my blood work showed my liver enzymes were elevated to almost double what the high side is, upon futher review by the Dr. they saw a growth on my liver about the size of a quarter, they said its not a fluid filled cyst because it was too dense on the ct images, i go in for an ultra sound this morning....needless to say i am truly scared.

Had a routine blood test, PAP, colonoscopy...the works within the past year.  All tests were within normal limits, thought my cholesterol could be a few points lower.  However, my AST and ATLs were high (liver enzymes).  Only recently, I've had more issues with indigestion, caused by what I've thought was due to my change in lifestyle and location (actually the change is for the better, but I'm unemployed, too!), but the indigestion creeps up often now.  Antacids help...sort of...and I'm not sure about foods.  Sometimes spicy foods bother me and sometimes they don't. A few months ago I had a BAD indigetion episode that lasted hours.  Bleching alleviated the symptom for a few moments, but that's all. Took antacids for the duration, tea, and cold foods.  The symptoms did alleviate enough for me to sleep, then in the morning I was fine.  Now I get ocassional indigestion that's mild and I pretty much ignore it.

Just had my ultrasound this morning (no sweat) and I'm feeling like I have indigestion just under the xyphoid process (the small bone at the end of your ribcage).  I burp and feel better, but the indigestion continues, mildly.

Is there anything related to my high liver enzymes and my indigestion?  Ulcer maybe?  I've checked the MayoClinic website and I don't have anything I can't related to menopause (when applicable) when I look at high liver enzyme info.  I've not lost weight, I'm not jaundiced, or have achy joints or in physical discomfort.   When my liver is pressed into, ther is no pain or discomfort other than being pressed into.

I'll let ya'll know what the results are for the ultrasound...

With mine it started with really bad headache then my heart beat is so fast that i can even here it and my heart hurt feel like im going to pass out. I went to the doctor after three days because i thought it will go away but i realize to go see a doctor and they check me up and they took a lot of blood test and they let me go home and they said they will call me if something is wrong. At night they call me and they tell me to go to the nearest emergency because of my hemoglobin was really low it was 4.5 it supposed to be 12, they confine me and give me some blood transfusion because my red blood cells is so low and they found out that i had anemia so they let me stay over night and give me 4 bags of blood. The next day i'am fine already so i went home and everything went to normal but i had another doctor appointment to check more blood test,ct scan, ultrasound by my chest but they dont find anything with the ct scan and ultrasound of my chest. when i found my result in the internet at their homepage i found out that i have ELevated liver enzymes but they dont say anything to me about it that i need to be worry about but i can feel it that is something wrong but they dont want to tell me till they figure it out what is wrong with me. Then sometimes i still feel the symptoms that i used to have like my heart beat is so fast again and i just sit down and it goes away. I'm worried and scared too but i have another doctor appointment on Dec. 18 but they change it to Dec.26 because they said that they have too hectic with their schedule but i have a got feeling that is something is wrong thats why they want to waited that long before the doctor want to talk with me.Do you guys have that symptoms too like mine please let me know thankyou...

Hi - I had routine blood tests after feeling generally unwell the other week and when I called the surgery they advised that I just needed to make a routine appointment which I have. However, Christmas Eve I had a letter from my doctor to say I need to have some more blood tests as my Ferritin level was high and one liver enzyme was slightly above what it should be. If my Ferritin is high and just one liver enzyme slightly high - could this be early signs of a liver problem? I been looking on internet which I know you shouldn't and have seen all sorts of things that scare me. I am 49 years old and have been in good health. I don't feel any other symptoms of anything.

I also was suffering for several months with right upper abdominal pain, sharp pains between my shoulder blades and constant bouts of nausea, diarrhea and indigestion. I became concerned that my gallbladder was not functioning properly. I have also gained about 30 lbs in a years time which is unusual for me. I still do a very physical job and have not drastically changed my diet in an unhealthy way. I went to my family physician and he sent me for blood work, an ultrasound of my liver, pancreas and gallbladder and a HIDA test to check liver and gallbladder function. My blood work came back with high liver enzymes and my HIDA test showed an enflamed liver, but they believe the cause of this is that my gallbladder was only functioning at 8.8%. When this happens the liver may become enflamed because of bile backing up from a blockage like a gallstone or simply because the gallbladder is not emptying properly.

I am being referred to a gastroenterologist to discuss gallbladder removal. My mother had to have this done a few years back so I know somewhat how it will go and what to expect. It's fairly common I hear and Doctors are diagnosing it much more quickly nowadays. Good luck to you all!

My wife is 30 years old and she has multiple stones in her Gallblader as per CT Scane report. She feels upper abdominal pain. Doctor has advised Laproscopic surgery for removal of Gallblader. Her ALS, AST rests also shows high results. I may kindly be told the cause of elevated enzyme and also tell me about its after effect.

Wow, I think this is what I experienced, only I was hospitalized for days and they still couldn't diagnose me! I always thought my gall bladder was involved! I know so many people who have been misdiagnosed, and then it finally comes down to gallbladder!! And I was experiencing the same symptoms
