Hi. I'm a 45 year old woman and had elevated liver enzynes now for over 5 years. My regular doctor didn't seem concerned just said oh how r u feeling?? U look ok. Blah blah. So nothing was done. This past year I saw a specialist about biological hormones and how to feel better improve my health balance my hormones. Etc... And he said I have elevated liver enzymes. I told him yes but my dr didn't seem convened. He told me to go to my dr and make sure he maje me an appt with a liver specialist. I went back and told him what the other dr had said. He still wasn't concerned and said. Oh u may be waiting for months to see a specialist. Oh whatever I thought what is it to u. Anyways he said well we will check again so again yet another blood test. Well it came back even higher. So this time he didn't hesitate and made the appt I saw the gastroenterologist 1 time abd was sent for yet another blood test. I hsbe my follow up this Wednesday. I don't really know what to expect hopefully nothing serious. But over the past few years I have had days of feeling nauseous and unable to eat. I did lose weight but the last few years haven't been bad. Occasionally get headaches lightheaded nauseous sometimes. Just have to wIt to c what he says.

Hope things have ironed out by now. I'd have your adrenals checked. Sounds adrenal-realted to me. I have pre-Adissons Disease (don't produce enough cortisol) disease and have had symptoms much like you describe (with palpitations and un-ending migraines. I have finally found a great doctor and am finding my way back to living. Hope things are better for you now and you have gotten some relief!

norrie-I have had blood work now and then that stated I have elevated liver enzymes. My NP scheduled a cat scan for me and I was not given the results. My primary care MD looked at the test results and said that he did not think that my liver enzymes were high. I recently spent a few days in the hospital due to tia and the doctor came into my room and asked me how much alcohol I drink. My answer was "none". He gets a sly smile on his face and tells me that even weekend drinking shows up in my blood work! I DO NOT PARTAKE OF ALCOHOL! My primary MD could tell him that as could my former MD. So there I sat looking at a MD that was convinced that I was a drinker. I am angry and also tired of having to explain that I do not drink. Alcoholism runs in my family and I do not want to start drinking because if I cross the line I do not think that
I have what it takes to detox from a chemical.

Hello..I have never had the itching that you described, however, I have had the dizzy, light- headedness, and the older I get, the more often it happens. I also suddenly get nauseated with severe cold sweats. I have had upper right abdominal pain and stomach issues. My gastro doctor ran some blood work and my liver enzymes have been slowly climbing for months. I had an ultra sound which showed gall stones. I then had an MRCP done (nuclear test) to see if my gallbladder, liver, pancreas were working correctly, and to see if the bile ducts in my gallbladder were blocked. It came back okay. I also had a normal MRI on my abdomen and it apparently showed an enlarged spleen. I have Hoshimoto's Thyroiditis (autoimmune thyroid that is under active) and recently been diagnosed after years of test with Fibromyalgia. I do no drink, and my doctor is attempting to find out if my enzymes are high due to auto immune hepatitis. Elevated enzymes do NOT mean cancer...I'm curious what was the outcome of your issue?

Eating healthy can not only help lower elevated liver enzymes, but can even protect your liver in the long run.
stay away from processed, fatty and sugary food items as these weigh heavily on the liver. Red meat, spices and oil should also be limited as these, too, can impact the liver negatively.
Instead, opt for fruits and vegetables and lean sources of protein.

Yes Mike...I've had exactly the same things going on for awhile now. The itching is especially bad at night for me when I first go to bed. OMG..the sweating. I wake up and will be absolutely drenched at times. I've also noticed that my short term memory is awful at times and my hair is falling out at a pretty rapid pace, where it hasn't before. I was diabetic..type 2...years ago but have been in remission for the past 6 years. Now my blood sugars are up a bit again and my liver emzymes, just like yours, are elevated. I'm scheduled for a CT with contrast later this week. I'm soooo curious...what did all your tests end up saying honey? Please share. I'm very worried.

I'm 37 years old and have been a heavy beer drinker for a few years mostly in the last year. I went for my annual appointment at the VA clinic yesterday and was called today saying that my liver function was bad and my enzymes were in the 200's.. The nurse told me to come back in for follow up blood work next week and a altrasound. He couldn't give me a answer on whether I should be prepared to drop dead any minute or do I have time to still live or anything. At least he could've said whether it's reversible or not. Anyone else have any insight on if it is from the beer and I decided to quit, how long does it take to get my numbers back to normal, or is there no chance and I should just start picking out a casket?
