Hello, everyone. A good friend of mine has been diagnosed with lupus. I know something about it, but recently I have heard a new term that I haven’t heard before – lupus remission. I would like to know what it is. I was hoping someone here will help me with this. Thanks.

Hi. Lupus is a chronic disease. All chronic diseases have remission and relapses. In remission, there are no symptoms. A patient feels good, there are no visible signs or symptoms. He is not cured since most of chronic diseases are not curable. However, if the symptoms appear again, then we talk about relapse. Relapse can be referred to as an acute phase of chronic disease. I hope this helps. Bye!
