I have been told my Blood Pressure is high and I have my own blood pressure cuff to track it. I was wondering when taking my BP should my arm be resting on the table so that the cuff is level with my heart or should the cuff be positioned above my heart?

hi, if you have a blood pressure monitor it will have markings on the cuff to ensure it is lines up with the artery. you should always take the reading whilst sitting down, with your arm relaxed and the bottom of the cuff on the crease of your elbow. it is more important to ensure the muscles are relaxed, than the height of the arm. if it is an automatic system then follow the system instructions, if it is a manual then follow standard procedure. hope this helps.

When applying a BP cuff to take a blood pressure, does it really make any difference if the 2 bladder extensions exit at the bottom, or the top as long as they are lined up with the brachial artery?
