Hi, folks. I have been experiencing some problems with my sinuses. I have heard something about the operation as the treatment possibility. I wonder when this operation is actually needed. I would appreciate if someone could actually tell me something more about this. I hope answering to my post won’t be a bother to you. Thanks.

Hi to you too. A small percentage of people with sinusitis require operation. Those are the cases when even the best possible medical treatment does not help. This percentage is less than 10% of all people with sinusitis. The surgery is called functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). It can be done under general or even local anesthesia. Experienced surgeons prefer local anesthesia. The procedure lasts from 2 to 3 hours. I hope this helps. Good luck!
