Hello, folks. I have been experiencing some problems with my sinuses. My doctor recommends me surgery as the best possible option. I am considering it, but I am not quite positive. I would like to know if sinus operation might bring some complications. I would appreciate all your replies considering this.

Hi, there. Usually, sinus surgery is recommended when medications cannot help. This can happen in less than 10% of all cases with chronic sinusitis. Every operation can bring complications. Postoperative bleeding is something that can happen. Adverse reactions to anesthetics can also appear. Intracranial complications may appear if the layer of bone is destroyed. In this case, leaking of liquor may appear. Intraorbital complications are also possible. Other complications are: smell complications, nasal obstruction, infection and voice changes. I recommend you to talk with your ENT specialist about this. Bye!
