I get these too, usually just a few a year. They are generally raised slightly & white. I have never had problem just pinching it off with my fingernail. That is until I googled it & found this blog to use tweezers, OUCH! That hurt way worse! Barely hurts w nails, if you've got em!

I have used peroxide for this problem in the past and well....I sure as heck wish I didn't!!! That made it so much worse than it originally was! They got bigger and even more painful. This actually took longer to go away if I had left them alone...

um...Hydrogen peroxide even says on the bottle you can rinse with it. There is nothing wrong with this. It has helped me with a tooth infection I kept getting. I got it fixed correctly but hydrogen peroxide is great on mouth infections. You aren't supposed to swallow it though.

I get them too, they're annoying and painful, Since I am very impatient and hate that I can't enjoy food when I have them, I use tweezers(clean ones) and just pluck it off. It bleeds for a moment , I swish some salt water or listerine, and i'm done aha.

I have one right now on the side of my tongue. these white ''taste buds'' or ''lie bumps''occur when you have eaten too many sugary foods eg) sweets, fizzydrinks. the body tries to get rid of excess sugar and acid by releasing it in a white bump on the tongue. leave it alone and it will go away in afew days :)

I get this same problem all the time. However, I seldom eat salty things. If anything, I don't get enough salt. I noticed this last after eating an apple and some unsalted raw walnuts. I'm thinking its more than a food-reaction problem.

ok so I get these small white bumps or conglomeration of bubs they appear on the tip or sometimes on the lateral margins of the tongue. I have had this for, 20 + years
They are so pain full I would dream of having some sort or micro fly-net sive and run it trough my tongue and get it all out.
As teenager I wen to specialist dermatologist, he could find nothing wrong
I tried ice, and freeze them off, but nail criper were the better. The best is probably sharp nail scissors tah you use parallel to the tongue sorta, you can get at the lesion, the nail sissors take extra.
Now when I get this the pain, it like fire lines burrowed into your skin tounge. I have removed some serious amount of tongue over the years, and a lot of blood, this seems to be the only thing that stop the pain, makes it go away.
It almost as if your tongue / immune/healing system needs something to do to keep it occupied.
I get dots/pimple but also areas, more like lines, or beads.
I notice on the larger example the tis issue I take of looks undifferentiated, smooth and globular.
I am not sure if this is scar tissue of the tongue from the previous day.
The pain of cutting can be intense, but it fades. The pain of doing nothing it by far worse.
I have also had a specialist (another derm) take a biopsy and they could find nothing wrong. I took a needle to the tounge and the a circular biopsy instrument
I have tried nilstat (did not help). Although diprosone did help (steroid so down reg immune)
I think it is stress related, also autoimmune.
Cutting off seems to be the only thing that works...so far...I will try some of the other recommendations
the pain is so bad, I sometimes think if i was tortured and they took my tongue that would be ok.
No specialist has been able to help me...
also to sorta sterilize something boil water submerge the whole instrument in the boiled water then microwave it (but not to over boil if you know what i mean)...metal can go in micro wave if submerged in water....I reckon this kills a hell of a lot of nasties....
I dont not think it is
lichen planus
geographic tongue
apthos ulcers
it looks a hell of a lot like hairy lukeplakia

The YELLOW Listerine 2x times a day and icing the tip of the tounge accompied by cold water numbed the pain for me and has signigantly cleared the swollen taste buds only after one and half days
