Hello, folks. My friend was complaining on some chest pain. He reported to the doctor. As far as I know, doctor ordered pulmonary arteriography. I would like to know why a doctor would order such a procedure. What are indications for this? I would appreciate all replies. Thank you in advance.

Hello. I think your friend’s doctor suspects on pulmonary embolism. It is the presence of the thrombi (blood clots) from other locations in the bloodstream. Usually these thrombi originate from deep veins of the legs. When they reach pulmonary circulation, they compromise it. This can be even fatal if doctors don’t react on time. Pulmonary arteriography is an excellent method for visualizing these blood clots. I hope your friend will be all right. Best of luck! Bye!
