Hello, there. My Papanicolau test showed some suspicious changes on my cervix. My doctor suggests cervical conisation as a procedure that I should carry on. I am little afraid, I must admit. Will I have any problems or pain after this procedure? I will appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Bye, folks!

Hello. You should consider cervical conization as any other operative procedure. It will be performed under general anesthesia. Usual pain after operation should be expected. This procedure brings some risks for a woman. Those are bleeding and problems with subsequent pregnancies. Uterus can also be damaged. I think you should discuss with your gynecologist whether this procedure is really necessary since there are newer methods. I hope everything will be all right. Please, let me know the outcome. Good luck!
