Please help me to understand my husbands addiction problem. My husband takes (4) Oxycodone 20 mg tablets per day for pain management. (Low Back Pain) He has a very addictive personality. He has gone to rehab in the past for pain pills. He was drinking and taking these pills. I used tough love and said if the drinking didnt stop I was leaving the marriage. He would become very verbally abusive. It has been about one month since he stopped the drinking with these pills. I put the pills out each night for the next day and he also takes a 150 mg dose of trazadone to sleep at night on top of these (4) tabs of oxys. He has a very small frame and is down to about 140lbs. He used to weigh about 160 to 165lbs. He has huge black circles under his eyes and looks like a zoombie. I have spoke to his Dr. and the Dr. does not seem concerned at all. My husbands mood is very negative, and beligerent at times. He becomes quite defensive when I discuss how he looks and my concerns about his health. He is now 47. He does work very hard every day he is a welder he goes to bed about 7pm to 8pm every night this has changed from his past schedule before all these meds. He is out like a light when he hits the pillow. I am so concerned about this whole situation this has been going on for about 2 to 3 years now. Any advise would be helpful. Why so much weight loss? Is this an excessive amount of medication to function on and go to work everyday or even to drive vehicle safely? Thxs, From One Worried Wife

Well, well, another person similar too me. I can help you understand the addiction. Okycodone is a very strong narcotic and make people feel great. It actually gives me energy and make me very talkative, it is almost like cocaine sort of speak. 80mg of oxycodone is quite large of an amount, I take 20mg once every twelve hours, and I use it for pancreatic pain management. I also take Trazadon, but 75mg for sleep. I also go to bed about 700pm or 800pm. In have also tried drinking on the oxycodone and wow what a ride into the twilight zone, it makes me feel alot better and induces the effects of alcohol significantly. Taking 80mg of oxycodon is not smoething you just stop the next day, you have to graduate to a lesser mg, untill your are off of it. The trazadone is in fact the same way, stopping cold turkey is going to make you just that a cold turkey. I experienced anxiety attacks and could not handle it. Talk to your husband and tell him the concerns you have, be very real. Also let him know that drinking and taking Trazadone and oxy is very very dangerous and your marriage could be ending sooner than you both think if he continues this habit. Let him know that you are concerned, and no one is out trying to get him, just more to help him. Humans can't take pain meds forever, and those who do end up passing before their very eyes and your too! show him this post and let him know that it is a serious deal. Good luck.
