Dear Sir,
am a 34 year old guy in a good relationship with a woman aged 45.we are very close and looking to get intimate and take our relationship to the next level.my only concern being she had many boyfriends and she has been physical with most of them.Although she said that she had always used condoms but am still worried as there are multiple ways to get infected.i had also asked her to do tests to which she happily agreed.kindly advice which tests should i asked her to do to for HIV and any other STDs.Also i have heard that HIV takes a very long time to be detected.will it still be safe to have sex with her if she is tested negative for HIV or STDs. Thanx

Hi Rohan,
HIV tests are very accurate. A negative test 60 days after exposure (if she was exposed) would be considered a strong probability that she is NOT infected. A test at 90 days is considered conclusive - not HIV positive.
Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, and Trichomoniasis are common STD's to test for but her doctor will determine that.
Good luck.

thanx Sir for your time... really appreciate it.
can i ask you one thing though.. whats the max cost involved in these tests.
also how safe is it to have sex with such a lady who has been physical with a lot of guys and
not stopped. i know u said 60 & 90 days after exposure, but i believe she is still having occasional
sex with her ex bfs.
we are friends for a very long time now.. and her sexual habits is the only reason thats stopped me from getting into bed with her. although i want to coz i like her a lot. but at the same time worried i might get infected if she is infected.

Costs vary everywhere Rohan so I can't say.
If any of her partners are infected then there is a risk that she could pass it along to you. If she has been with the same partners for a while, and they are monogamous, then the risk is likely low.
Good luck.
