Hello all.

So, I am age 24 and I am finally posting this to see if I can get some answers with some of the things I've been recently dealing with. I just took an antibiotic about 3 weeks ago because I was informed that my partner had Chlamydia. Popped the two pills and a week passed by and all seemed well. It seems like hell stepped into my life the second or third week after taking this antibiotic and I feel itchy in every corner and crevice of my vagina. Even my armpits are itchy!! I immediately ran to Planned Parenthood to find out that I had a yeast infection. I figured this was the case considering the doctor told me getting a yeast infection might be possible on the antibiotic and to just "eat some yogurt". Just eating some yogurt didn't do anything and now I'm going on 1 month dealing with this insane itching (which is almost entirely external at this point). The doctor gave me Diflucan which I am now seeing that a lot of women have taken and haven't seen many results. I completely swiped sugar out of my diet (going on 5 days strong now) which was not an easy thing to do. I eat tons of kale and have even started eating 1-2 cloves of Garlic a day (as a I read this will kill the bad bacteria if eaten on a consistent basis). After 5 days of this new diet I still had the external itching like no tomorrow which is also occurring in my anus as well, and my pits. I am assuming it spread. So, I go to the store to purchase any kind of cream I can. Vagisil max strength anti-itch. It provided results but the itching would come back after 5-6 hours and I would have to re-apply. I finally talked with my grandmother who used to be a nurse and she recommended I went straight to the store and bought distilled white vinegar, which I did. Day 1 of dabbing distilled white vinegar on my vagina (and anus) and even though it burned I am starting to feel as though the itching is disappearing and the redness on my inner lips is slightly going away. I am just wondering if this has worked for anyone else or if what I'm doing is even right? I don't want to be on an anti-sugar diet forever because it's miserable and it wasn't until this ridiculous antibiotic that I started having to switch my life around. I take 50 billion probiotics per day (1 pill), eat zero sugar, drink only water, and have now accepted white vinegar into my life and don't want to smell like a pickle forever. Someone help. I am moving into 100% tea tree oil in hopes that this will help, and maybe witch hazel...any input appreciated.

Hello ribrae,

this yeast infection definitely does sound like a total nightmare! but I have to agree with you, it's kinda hard to expect to live the next few months without any sugar and dabbed in vinegar. One of the reasons you need to consider is that vinegar is an acid and the skin on your vaginal area and armpits can take only certain amount of harsh substances before it starts reacting. Coincidentally, this reaction usually is with more redness and burning, so, to me, the best option you have is seeing an ob-gyn and getting a topical yeast infection treatment instead of Diflucan (like Monistat or Canesten which you can get OTC, but you might first want to make sure your vaginal skin is not damaged by vinegar),

Wish you all the best,

Nicole
