We are always striving for "peace" and "equality," but i personally think these are idealistic terms that mean different things to different people.
Don't you think it is large groups that define what "peace" and "equality" mean and create the necessary plans to move towards those ideas??????

Don't you think there will always be bad stuff? If we were able to achieve whirled peas, social equality, economic stability, all the strife man imposes upon himself on a grand scale, we'd still have icky stuff to deal with. There would still be natural disasters, and we would still get annoyed or get our panties in a bunch over lesser things. It's just that those lesser things would seem like bigger things, no? Falwell will say stupid stuff. Your neighbor will still covet your wife. Your teenagers will still roll their eyes at you. The dog will pee in the house and the cat will barf up hair balls on your freshly shampood carpet.
I think it is all about perspective, priorities and what is actually going on in each person's life at the moment.

i love it when my daughter takes my hand. she's nine years old and still insists that i hold her hand no matter where, no matter what. and she insists that i do it right - wrap it tight mommy - don't let me go. Seems simple enough, but really -- i've learned that it is my honor and my priviledge to hold that hand, to wrap it up in mine, to never ever want to let it go.......what a gift.
Maybe if there were no "bad stuff", no poop flung into my corner of the world, i'd look at that little hand differently. there will never ever be peace and quiet on this earth so i have found my own and it is way good enough for me.

But really, that is how I really approach life, too. I have my family, and the joy my children bring me is more than I could have ever hoped for. My idealistic days are behind me, and thankfully I can focus on the things I can do something about. That is tell my wife and kids I love them every day, torment my kids with hugs and kisses, be a good daddy and a good husband. My own personal utopia. :)
