Would proper dieting make difference in parkinson's disease? My brother has been diagnosed with this disease almost a month ago. Even though he is taking his medications, I can feel that he is very desperate and that he does not think much of his life now. He even gained 7 extra kilos which is really a lot. I know that he should not do that and that diet is needed, but how to explain that to him?

Even though extra weight could be a big problem, because it affects in its own way your brother's movement ability, I think that there is another bigger problem here. His desperation. I do not know how old he is, but still, he must not give up. With proper treatment and therapies, he can lead a life that can be called normal all the way until the end. Even though dementia might attack him in last stages, up to that point he can have a good life quality. Do not let him waste time he has left.
