I'm in the same situation as you all. Started with a textbook UTI, no sores or anything. Got a UA done which indicated a uti. Started macrobid the next morning and also that night I shaved down there and the next afternoon I had the painful sores but the uti symptoms were pretty much gone and replaced with yeast infection symptoms. After a few days I quit the macrobid and went to cipro. The bumps stopped forming and are less painful but still there. Went to the dr yesterday and she said looks like herpes but I feel it is soooo unlikely. Waiting for test results but she gave me diflucan in the mean time. Took it last night and have had immense pain relief since then. Bacterial vaginosis test came back negative.

I have to say this thread has been so helpful. This has been one of the most painful experiences of my life. I am a 24 year-old female and this was my first yeast infection. On the 4th I started antibiotic treatment for impetigo. On the 8th I started to have some burning and itching in my labia. On the 9th my discharged changed and the burning and itching increased. I used a generic over the counter cream to treat it. On the 10th my labia became increasingly swollen and I noticed a few small blisters. It was more difficult for me to put in the applicator. It was the worst hell to pee and I hurt so bad to just to move, sit, lay, breath… On the 11th I had more blisters spreading to my inner thigh. They looked like big angry white heads. My PA-C back home prescribed Diflucan. She told me to take an antihistamine, because I may be having an allergic reaction to the yeast infection medicine.

I had a little relief on the 12th, but that night it became so much worse. Some of the blisters had broken and became open sores. On the 13th I went to urgent care. The PA-C told me she it looked like HERPES. I told her about this thread and the time line. She was still pretty certain. I told her I had been tested in December as had my new boyfriend. I hadn't had a partner in a year and a half and my ex and I always used condoms. My boyfriend hadn't had a partner in a year. We both tested clean. She said that are viral load could have been low enough that either one of us could have had false negatives. She took a swab and there was no yeast. She was still pretty certain. She took a swab of a sore on my labia and one from my thigh. She also did a culture on my discharge. They also took a vial of blood for to test for herpes. That night my labia was swollen, and raw. I had so many stores on my labia, it was easy to see count where they weren't.  Where it wasn't bright red, it was pale. It looked awful!

She prescribed Valacyclovir, tramadol for the pain (which got me very high), and lidocaine. The lidocaine does sting, but is not near as bad as peeing.  If you do get this, I recommend putting it on thoroughly. If you miss a spot, it is still hell to pee. I kept missing the lowest part of my labia. The pimple like sores spread to the lowest part of my butt on the 14th , and I had a weird green discharge.  On the 15th I had a pinkish discharge which told me everything had broken and was heeling. I started feeling much better.  I am to the point now where the lidocaine hurts more than peeing, so I have stopped using it. Today the 16th I got the results of the blood test. NEGATIVE for both Herpes I and Herpes II. I am not quite sure what the hell this was or is as I am still healing.  It could have been the yeast infection from hell with an allergic reaction. I am just very happy that I had been tested in the past and knew where I stood. At the end of the day this just made my relationship stronger. Good luck people! I recommend going to the doctor ASAP. Even if they don’t believe you, the pain killers and the lidocaine really help. In the end you get answers too.

Just want to thank all of you for this information..  although it may not be common, dr's get paid the big bucks to know these things and should not AUtoMAtICALLY tell their patients its herpes..  I cried for 4 days straight until results came back negative. there are like 4-5 other things that also cause these same symptoms. This information helped in telling my dr. because i experienced the exact same things.

SAME SAME EXACT EXACT EXPERIENCE!  Wow.  I was freaking out because DRs cannot figure out whats wrong w me!  I have been  Happened to me like 2 years ago for the first time.  I went to emergency in the middle of the night because I couldn't take the burning from the Monistat 7 I had sent my BF to get that night.  I was literally in the tub splashing cold water on my vaginal area for dear life.   Red vaginal area, small cut like abrasions, NOT typical "herpe" blisters, light discharge(seems like a yeast), scared to pee-gripping the toilet for dear life!  Sadly.....it keeps coming back about every 5 months for the last 2 years. I have had every test in the book, over and over just in case it was wrong.  Had BF tested 2 times for EVERYTHING, too.  All tests NEG!!!  The scary part to me is that when you read about the testing for Herpes, it is not exact from what I understand.  It could say neg, but you really are positive and vice versa!  WTH!  But, from everything I have read about all of our stories......it is herpes.....in some form or another.   So, when the "scream when you pee" starts up, I go ahead and start with the Acyclovir and Abreva.  I notice (like most say-the usual), when under stress, that's the times it comes.  My advice is to go ahead and get the prescription and try it out.....if you have another episode.  Better safe than sorry.....and see if it shortens the time.  Yep, all the doctors are baffled....but, you know your body best.  And, everyone responds differently.  ALL THE BEST TO ALL!

Sorry previous post hit 2xs....new to this.

Also, wanted to add:  A POSITIVE THOUGHT:  Cleansing with juicing, etc.  I think we are all overloaded with so many chemicals and toxins in our environment today.  I mean, at no other time have so many people had so many health issues this young!  This year alone allergies have skyrocketed for people who normally have none.  Cancer is up, autism...... etc.   Have you really paid attention to all the drug commercials...."ask your DR" non sense.  Try muting the TV when one comes on, you will be amazed at the expressions on the actors faces.  Pure brainwashing!  Like an old 50's nuclear scare tactic.....  Its scary.

Exercise, lots of water, and juicing to cleanse and detox our systems is whats needed!  We need to listen to our own bodies.  Its good practice to get the kids involved so they can have a healthier life.  And, its a good way to get them to eat their veggies.  :)

I'm 21 and i recently went on vacation to the beach. I had unprotected sex with a guy a day after getting a horrible wedgie that gave a huge tear so when sex was hurting i didnt think much of it. The next day the outside of my vagina started hurting a little bit and it hurt like hell when i peed. Again i thought it was just because of the wedgie. After two days of the situation getting worse and not being able to comfortably walk or sit i grabbed a mirror and when i saw the condition of my vulva i started crying. I had open blisters all over and it was very swollen. Inmediately i started freaking out but could not do anything because i was on a cruise in the middle of the ocean. The pain, itching, and discomfort seemed to get worse at night and it kept me up for two nights straight. When i finally made it home i had gotten my period and it was easier to pee but after taking a bath and looking at my vagina with a mirror i decided i needed to hit the ER because it was looking scary. It was very hard to walk because it felt like i was being stabbed and the pain was bad, also my pubic hairs were growing and that made things even worse. When the doc finally saw me he said i had a bacterial infection that had turned into a dermatitis and i was finally diagnosed with a UTI and vaginitis. I was given a pill coctail for the pain, given a shot (i do not recall the name of any of these meds because i was in so much pain) and was prescribed an antibiotic, lidocaine 5% to numb the pain and clotrimazole & betamethasone. I took the antibiotics for 10 days and it did help with the swelling and the pain and the clotrimazone reduced the ulcer-like sores. It's been three weeks (i came back from vacation on 05/11/13) and it doesnt hurt when i pee or when i walk or sit but i still have some sores on around the opening. I'm going to schedule and appoinment with my OBGYN because these sores should've disappeared by now. I was not diagnosed with herpes and like many of you i have done extensive research and no STD comes close to what i have. I hope that my doctor can tell me exactly what i have and i hope i don't have an STD because i will be furious at myself. I have no other symptoms or discomfort because of these sores but the fact that they are still there is making me worry a whole lot.

hey guys,

Reading all of these are making me feel a lot better but I'm still extremely scared. I am 23 years old, sexually active, don't have a boyfriend but I use protection. The last time I had sex was about 2 and a half months ago and it was protected, before that it was 3 months. On Monday (6 days ago) I had a bad cold, really ache'y and my tonsils were swollen. I rested as much as I could but still felt like c**p. I went to the doctor on Wednesday and he did a strep test and I was find but he did find my tonsils were swollen so he started me on ibuprofen 800 and Benzonatate for my coughing. I was taking the Ibuprofen 800 about 3x a day (every 6 hours) along with the Benzonatate and my usual birth control pill. On Thursday night I felt some discomfort in my vagin and felt a bump on the inner right side of my labia. I didn't think much of it but the next day I woke up and that bump turned into a white "crater" looking thing. I made an appointment with my Ob-Gyn right away but I wouldn't be able to see her till after the weekend. Now its Sunday and my appointment is tomorrow at 12:45. The sores have gotten drastically worse and spread. They look like giant canker sores. I was up all night on Saturday and couldn't get much piece of mind or rest today. I'm in so much pain, it doesn't hurt much to pee but it does hurt to wipe.. I am applying warm compresses which temporarily relieve the pain. I keep taking the ibuprofen to hope that the pain goes away, I also started on an anti-biotic on Friday for both my sore throat and for these sores. They are disgusting. I keep looking with a pocket mirror and gagging every time I look down. I am so nervous its herpes but am trying not to make myself crazy... I've read that Herpes usually comes 3-20 days after being infected and I haven't had sex in 2.5 months so I'm really hoping that's a good sign. I've noticed a white discharge, sometimes with a yellow tint but I'm starting to think that perhaps all of the Ibuprofen, Benzonatate and birth control pills I was taking that perhaps I developed a yeast infection, except I don't see any milky discharge. It is clear. I have had a yeast infection before and I remember it hurting while I pee. I can't figure out whats wrong with me and I guess I will tomorrow but it's giving me some piece of mind writing on this forum. I've prayed and prayed that this isn't herpes and I'm really hoping tomorrow my doctor doesn't think it is either. If she does take a swab though, how long does it typically take to get back? I don't know how much longer I could wait. I'm also hoping that she prescribes me something that helps the pain. Is this textbook herpes and I'm just fooling myself, or do you think there is hope that this could be something else caused by my recent sickness/medicines? :|

hey yall, its kay2012- im so glad to hear that my thread has helped so many people find some mental relief. Before this thread it seemed as if there was no other option than to accept we all had genital herpes.... I hope people will continue to share their stories as well as their results to their symptoms. Please make up a user name that way we can match up stories to results as you recieve them following your original post date. If youre new to this thread be sure to begin reading at the very begining of the thread where i began with my symptoms. I was as detailed as i could be about what was going on. Thanks everyone and best of wishes to those who are waiting for results- Kay2012

Thanks Kay2012.. Turns out it is definitely Herpes, doctor said it's a really bad case too.. Since I first noticed signs on Friday I couldn't make an appointment with my doctor until Monday- the weekend killed me and caused more sores followed by more pain. NOTE TO EVERYONE WHO EVEN THINKS ITS A POSSIBILITY YOU HAVE THE VIRUS: GET IT CHECKED...THE SOONER YOU GO ON MEDS THE SOONER YOU HEAL AND WON'T END UP CRIPPLED IN BED LIKE I AM. I feel as if I skipped the blister part and jut went right from red bump to lesion. Doc put me on valtrex and I started on Monday- its now Wednesday and I'm not feeling any better. I had to call to get a script for Tylenol 3 today.. It put me to sleep but as soon as I woke up I was back in the same pain. She also put me on mupirocin to make sure they don't get infected and lidocaine to numb. The lidocaine helped the first couple of days but now I think I built up an immunity towards it cause its not helping. I used them both this morning but I think that will be my last time cause I want the sores to get dry and heal! I used some baking soda today.. like 3x.. the first 2x were okay but the last time I had a serious burning down there. Also I had an excessive amount of bleeding today? Anyone know if thats normal? Tomorrow I have a follow up appt. with my doctor, I hope I feel better by tomorrow- any stories from you guys of bad cases and how long it took for valtrex to kick in with pain relief? I have a scheduled work day on Saturday that could be 10 hours long but I dont think I am going to be able to make it :( Also I haven't heard of anyone talk about the scabbing stage? Obviously not there yet but is that uncomfortable? Question is: If my serious symptoms showed up last Saturday when can I expect to walk again without looking like I twisted both my ankles?

I'm just wondering if your doctor did a culture test or just visibly diagnosed you with herpes?  What you have sound very similar to my situation but as far as I know all the test were negative. The doctor put me on meds for BV because I had so much discharge after 3 weeks and the sores were not healing.  She had also given me hydrocortizone cream which helped with the swelling and I've been using polysporn which has helped with healing.  They are finally started to heal but its been 4 weeks now.  2 weeks of absolute pain!!!!  1 week of moderate pain and finally 1 week of relief.  My sores sound so much like yours, most have healed there are a few spots left which are not fully healed but they were really bad.   I've had no scabbing and doctors initially believe it was an allergic reaction to monistat 1.  I had used it to treat what I thought was a yeast infection.   So I'm really curious to know if you had lab test done.  Herpes meds won't help you if it's not herpes.

Hey Maci, my doctor did do labs. She swabbed a couple of different places, she looked at it underneath the microscope also and said it didnt look like herpes visually on me or under the microscope. The swab tests she did came back negative for herpes. I also requested for her to do blood work and those results were normal too. Its been a year since all that and i recently had some blood work done and my hsv1 &2 are still negative.
