So I had a surgery on the 13th or 14th of April and I was supposed to have my period then. The office administers a pregnancy urine test and it came back negative. I was put under general anesthesia. So I didn't think much of it when I didn't receive my period on time. It is now May 1rst and I haven't received my period. I'm scared because my husband has been out of work for over a month and can't fond anything. We can't support ourselves let alone a baby... Does anyone think I should worry that the test was given too soon?

Hi there

I would assume that you are on an antibiotic to prevent infection since after just about any surgery you are put on antibiotics.

Antibiotics CAN delay your period and stress from worrying about the surgery AND/OR the stress on your body DURING the surgery can also cause your period to be late and worrying about it even more doesn't help matters.

If they conducted a clinical pregnancy test and confirmed that you were not pregnant at the time of surgery, it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant. Still, if you wish to confirm, have another clinical pregnancy test done.

Eat well, and sleep well. You periods will be fine. Good luck

Thanks, actually I'm not on antibiotics and the rest was given before I was supposed to have a period. Maybe I'm just worrying for nothing. Thanks for the help. I'll test today I think.
