Another remedy -- if you think it's yeast in the intestines after reading up on is -- is paragone. Comes in supplement and a tincture.

I'll take it as a cleanser while doing the other things I mentioned. After four or five days, I feel really great :)

OMG!! I have been going to doctor after doctor after doctor for over a year now and haven't gotten anywhere. Just worse off now. They completely disabled my thyroid with radiation but oops! that wasn't the problem. I can't tell you how good it feels to hear someone else say that they too are confused and frustrated. I feel like I'm losing my flippin' mind. I have gained 30-40 lbs. in just a few months and I look 6-8 months pregnant. I too have considered shopping in maternity because I've NEVER had an issue like this and NONE of my clothes fit. Nobody understands! I feel absolutely lost and if it weren't for my daughter I think I would have given up long ago.

I had so much fluid in my body, I grew three dress sizes in two months! My knee started giving out and I had shooting pains. The pain got so bad, I went to the ER for relief. They gave me a shot in the hip of Toledol to reduce inflammation and a prescription for Tramadol for pain. They advised me to lay down and put up my feet so they were higher than my heart. A week later, I went back. The swelling was so bad in my ankles that I couldn't put my shoes on. They ran a series of tests on me to check my heart, kidneys, and liver. Everything was fine. It was determined that I have sleep apnea. Loss of oxygen creates all kinds of health problems. Apparently, the body's reaction to not enough oxygen from lack of sleep is to send lots of fluids through the body as a defense. Now I have to find a way to afford a sleep study to verify sleep apnea - not cheap. This explains the weight gain, the pain in my knees, the sensitivity of my stomach. I am now taking Lasix to pee out a majority of the fluid. Already, I am getting some relief. I was diagnosed with "Peripheral Edema." They had to rule out there were no problems with my heart or kidneys. Fluid in the heart tissues can lead to a heart attack. Hope this gives you some other things to consider.

I would recommend finding a good alternative medicine or healing person. Staying with your regular doc is wise but you could learn more about alternative theories and practices. I went on the merry-go-round of docs for quite a while before finding a good naturopath and also educating myself. A good book is Prescription for Nutritional Healing -- you can go to many health food stores (even GNC) and start reading it there. You might try reading about candidiasis. (Many docs don't think it's a really ailment -- but I do :))

Good luck !

Pain during intercourse could be caused by endometriosis.

For 2 years I suffered with a swollen and hard abdomen, constant pain on my left side, gained 20 lbs went from size 4 to size 8/9 and I'm 40 years old. Everyone kept telling me it was due to me getting older. I've always had issues with constipation and then diarrhea. Found out there was colon cancer in my family so went for a colonoscopy and they said it could be Irritable Bowel syndrome and sent me on my way. Finally have several visits to the ER, I was sent to a gynocologist who did both ultrasound and vaginal ultrasound and saw some cysts on my ovary but said it was too small to cause the pain. After 6 months of this finally got an endoscopy and they eneded up having to take out my left ovary and diagosing me with endometriosis! She put me on Agestyn and I ballooned up even more! She ended up putting me on diaretics and off of the Agestyn. I was still having pain on my left side and abdomen was still bloated but gyno said nothing was wrong. Went to a new PCP and he did all kinds of blood work, found out I tested postive for the H Pyloris Bacteria so went on antibiotics for 10 days and he referred me to a gastroenterologist. He did an Upper GI xray and found nothing and then decided to do an Upper GI endoscopy and said I had GERD and a hianal hernia. I already knew I was lactose intolerant when I was a kid but thought I had outgrown it. Seems that too came back with a vengeance and they tested me for ciliac disease but came back normal. So after 2 years, I am on a probiotic called Align and eat Activia everyday. I stay away from sodas, caffeine, milk products and citrus (also discovered on my own from keeping a food diary that I can't tolerate tomatoes!) I have my flat stomach once again and am doing great! I am only a size 7, not sure I will ever get down to a size 4 again but I feel healthy and can once again see my toes! It was so embarrassing to have a bloated stomach that made me look 6 months pregnant! The doctor too confirmed I have IBS but with the new diet and staying away from gassy foods and the probiotic it all seems to be helping! Hope this helps someone!

Gambler, I'm 69 years old, post menepausal, But in less than 3 months I have gained over 30 lbs. I have never had a weight problem, I am taking Thyroid meds, have since 1979, Now my Dr says the meds aren't working right and that my thyroid hasn't worked for years, he cut the meds down, I'm still gaining weight, and the Dr says it's because I quit smoking last December. I have been careful about what I eat since I quit, and didn't start to gain till almost 4 months later. I'm thinking of smoking again, it would be easier than trying to find a doctor who really listens and does something for me.

I do not have so much pain as many here have talked about but that may be because I have been enduring it for over a year now and I am learning to ignore it. My doctors are telling me that it is just middle age weight gain, nothing shows on the uterine ultrasound and since I have had an ablation about 5 years ago, the doctors are chalking it up to scarring in the uterus. I can't justify 30 pounds of scarring. I gained the weight in about 8 weeks and I too look like I am 6 or 7 months pregnant. Worst part is that I haven't gained in other parts of my body and I am beginning to think I should start shopping in maternity dept. just for the comfort. Getting ready to move to another state so hoping that new doctors will offer new perspectives; I am getting tired of them telling me nothing is wrong;I am just getting older.

YES ! I know how you feel ! I'm going through the same thing. My thyroid burned out years ago, because I've been taking Thyroid meds since 1979. My dr said my meds aren't working right so he lowered them 12mg. Huh, alot that did ! I think I need a new doctor @

This is kind of a relief to know I'm not alone. I have gained a lot of weight for no reason the past two years. Look 6 mo preg. And have abdominal pain on a daily basis. I have told three different doctors this and they ream me for being over weight. Tell me to eat more protein. Do weight watchers. And take phentermine to control my appetite. First off, I do not over eat. And the things I do eat are very healthy (mainly veggies some fish and chicken) and mostly organic. One doc told me I'm starving myself. The other doc looked at me as if I'm a closet eater after reading my food journal. I used to be a avid runner for years and 120. After having kids. And having cystic ovaries. I ran some more. My weight kept going up. I now don't run. Mainly discouragement. But also I don't think my knees can take it! I would love to know why so many women are having this issue and why are doctors just saying its a weight issue. Well I wasnt fat until I all of a sudden started to gain weight like there no tomorrow! Best of luck to everyone. And please let me know if anyone comes up with a cure. Before long I may be in maternity clothes too for comfort. I feel like I have a beach ball in my stomach. and it is sometimes painful.

I have the EXACT same symptoms. Every Dr. tells me I eat to much. I actually don't eat hardly at all because I'm so uncomfortable! And, what I do eat is also healthy, fish/chicken/veg/fruit. I had to have a hysterectomy due to the cysts keep coming and hurting to much and already had the cysts removed but they come back. I had the hysterectomy on WED last week. The Dr. said she thinks I have something called Adenomyosis which can only be diagnosed AFTER hysterectomy. It's basically endometriosis but it's all INSIDE your uterus. Causes hormone issues with your periods and bloating to no end. I've lost 18 lb sense WED and it's ALL water weight. I've been peeeing like there is no tomorrow. I'm still waiting on the Pathology report to show for sure it is Adenomyosis, but the Dr said she 99.9999% sure it is and that's what's been causing so many of my issues. It is usually only found in women who have had children and it gets worse as you get older. Wait and see. I've been reading up a lot on this since I've been home and stuck in bed. It seems like this very well may be what's been wrong with me for YEARS. Everyone who's had the hysterectomy I've read have said it was the best thing they ever did and they have been able to start loosing weight. Trust me, I UNDERSTAND what you are going through. It's SO frustrating to be SO FAT and have no way to loose weight and barely eating and everyone judge you so much. Also the pain from cysts is insane!

Doctors hear so much whinning, they tend not to truly listen to those really in need of expertise advise or help. Like I said, I have been to 3 different doctors....so that is why I am seeking advise from women who also have the same issues. Obviously they are the exprts, no doubt. But every day I continue to swim, dance, eat healthy, take probiotics, and enzymes and I continue to gain, with no help from the experts other than I need to lose weight. Duah!
