hey i got a pap smear like 6 months ago and it was "abnormal" and they told me to come back and i did near the end of july, theyre just calling me now to come in for the results im so scared he said if its abnormal again then i have to get a camera in there too see whats wrong or something, and apparently abnormal papsmears can have something to do with cancer im only 17. i also had an hiv scare which im still not 100% convinced i dont have it. and i heard that infection could cause people to get cervical cancer easy. please help, does anyone have any advicee? as bad as this sounds i kinds hope its chlaymidia or something.

Go and get the results.

I know, it may be bad news and nobody wants to hear it.  But, you need to know these results.  If it is something bad then at least you know now what it is and can deal with it.  Not knowing is worse.

HPV, which is very common, can lead to cervical cancer.  There is a vaccine available now though.

It may not even be that.  

A PAP smear is really to look for abnormal cells.  Many STD's can not be detected by a PAP smear.  STD testing is usually done separately.

can you get rid of hpv? isnt a vaccine to prevent it from happeneing?
yeah i had abnormal cells before which is why im freaking out
i found out i had chlaymidia before from a pap smear.
i just mainly want to know
1)if you can get rid of HPV and how
and
2)if it causes abnormal cells

Yes, hpv can cause abnormal cells. No, you can't get rid of hpv. It's a virus. Once you're exposed it is always there.

There are treatments to reduce the effects of HPV however.
