Hello! :) I'm new here and I had a question about a problem I've been having recently with my eyes. I really mostly want to make sure that I am in no true danger and should not seek further medical help. I'm going to try and briefly describe what is going on and then give further more detailed background so that any that wish to read more could possibly speculate with me what is occuring.
Description:
About a week and a half ago I woke up with my eyes extremely dilated. The first day it happened my eyes were fairly dilated for most of the day; they would respond to light and my pupils would contract but they would be much larger than normal in given lighting conditions. Up until yesterday, I would wake up and notice them being fairly dilated to start and then usually they would return to normal by mid afternoon and as I progressed further from the first incident it took less and less time for them to become normal. Yesterday, they were not dilated at all when I first woke up and looked at them.
Now today, I woke up and they were the same as yesterday. However, I took a nap this afternoon and then when I woke up they were as dilated as they were the first day. I have several theories as to what could be going on but would love to hear input, advice, and other theories.
More Details:
Some of what I said above will be repeated in an attempt to provide more information surrounding both of the two starting dilation occurrences.
About a week and a half ago, I woke up and my eyes were extremely dilated. After completing parts of my morning routine I ended up fainting and hitting my head.
I went to my college campus health services and was checked out and my head looked fine, and no comment was made as to why my eyes might have been dilated.
I also went to a cardiologist later that week to make sure my heart and circulatory system were alright as this was the first time I had ever fainted. The cardiologist said my heart was normal and fine and could not give an explanation as to why my eyes may have been dilated besides one explanation.
I am currently on a drug called Lexapro for Depression and GAD. The cardiologist concluded this to be the most likely cause for my eyes being dilated. I have been on this drug since October of last year and have not noticed any symptoms like this before, and I had been on the drug a year previously and noticed anything like this.
Personally, I do not believe it is my Lexapro and a few theories.
Theory One: In both of what I am calling my "first cases", the case from a week and a half ago and today, I had slept for a period before each in the light. Normally I sleep without light on or without daylight from windows.
Theory Two: Before both instances I consumed Sahara Cuisine Multigrain Pita Chips with Sahara Cuisine Hummus and believe that something in the pita chips, such as flax seeds, could be poisoning me. I feel most strongly toward this one, but feel that if I were poisoned my eyes would constantly be that first huge dilation and would not respond to light.
Theory Three: I am having hormonal imbalances.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this lengthy post and I appreciate any insight. :D

Welcome to the forums.
It is hard to second guess your doctor, who actually has seen you as a patient.
I tend to believe that the assumption that Lexapro is causing the dilated pupils to be correct. Lexapro can raise the seratonin levels which can cause mydriasis, dilation of the pupils.
As to the Sahara Cuisine, probably a coincidence.
Another possibility, is someone tampering with your food?

Thank you. :-) I don't believe anyone is tampering with my food, but I suppose it could be a possibility. I'm leaning towards no, as I live in a sorority with some very close knit people none of whom have any reason to tamper with my food. But again it is a possibility. o.O
My actual doctor isn't in the area where I am going to college so I wasn't sure if I should believe the cardiologist I went to see as that was the first time I'd gone to see her.
Thank you again for your view on this matter! :-D I am more than likely making a bigger deal out of this than it really is, but I always prefer to be safe rather than sorry. XD
