We have a very highly respected specialist working with my wife and I with our child. She is a high risk pregnancy at her young and beautiful age of 35. The specialist said that if you need adderrall then take it. We're 18 weeks along and so far so good. The baby is growing, as healthy as can be!!!! I myself had issues Because I don't take it and had MY reservations. Hope this helps!

Hi there,
So let me start by saying that I am 33, mother of 3 and 17 weeks pregnant with my 4th (only on Adderall with this pregnancy). I was taking 60 mg a day of Adderall, preconception, but now take 30mg a day (15x2) since conception. I have found that the XR doesn't work for me as my metabolism is fast ( I also don't like XR as your body is processing the meds over long periods of time but this is just MY opinion :) I tried lowering my dosage to around 15-20mg a day when we were trying to conceive and in the first week, but 30mg is where I am still 'me'. I read EVERYTHING about addys and pregnancy, every so called 'study', forum, medical journals, RX sites, you name it, I read it. Unfortunately, there are little to no real controlled studies on this issue, only animals given unrealistic amounts, studies with methamphetamines or opinions from the 90's. The risks I found were: vasco-constriction (which can limit oxygen and nutrients to the baby), high blood pressure, low birth weight and premature births all of which can be avoided if you monitor yourself, gain proper weight and don't over work yourself. My baby is healthy, has a perfect formed heart, placenta and umbilical cord, is active and even bigger than expected! At 10 weeks I started to bleed, found out I had a subchorionic hematoma and was ordered to take it easy, no exercise, refrain from sex and no lifting. I stopped my Adderall immediately as I was concerned this must be a reason why I bled but my OB said to go back on it as it had nothing to do with it and my mental health was important to maintain (SCH is pretty common I learned). Everything is healed and I am back to working out lightly. I monitor my heart rate during workouts (not getting over 140) and the babys with my fetal heart doppler. I even did my own study by measuring my BP and HR and babys HR before my dose, 2 hours after and before bed. The only time I noticed a difference was after my first workout (post SCH)...I finished and quickly checked her HR and it was 160 which was a little higher than her usual of 143-153. I make sure now to workout out to soon from when I take my dose. My point is that we, especially as women, have a health obligation to ourselves to watch and take of our bodies while taking this medication period. Adderall is an amazing drug for those who truly need it but its a serious drug as well that needs respect. To be honest, in the 6 years I have taken it, I never really 'took it seriously'. But being pregnant has made me realize that I needed to step it up. Bottom line is (in my extremely researched opinion) take your adderall, take the lowest dose you can to function with, watch you BP and HR, don't over do yourself (we ADD girls and especially women usually over work ourselves unnecessarily) and DON'T STRESS! Obviously, talk to your OB as every preggo mommy is different with risk/benefits varying. I hope this helps :)

Thank you so much for your post I am currently 19 weeks pregnant and takong 5mg immediate release and needless to say i've been freaking out wondering if I should take the adderall or not. Both my OBGYN and pysch said there is not enough info/human studies so if I want to take it it's entirely up to me. My initial reaction is to stay off it and I didnformthe first trimester but I'm doing so poorly at work I'm beginning to worry about getting fired. Anyway, thanks again reading positive stories helps make a decision

Is everything okay with you baby? I just found out I'm pregnant and have been taking 20-30 mg a day. Scared out of my mind

You ladies do realize how an at home test works right? If human growth hormone is present you get a positive test. Adderol has zero to to with hcg. It doesn't give you a false negative. You took a test at 3 weeks pregnant, maybe only had an implanted egg for two weeks. Your body had no detectable hcg. It was negative because that's how your body works. I feel like people should know how their own body works.

Thank you! So many blabbering responses on here by people who have no idea what they're talking about! "You shouldn't take any prescriptions while pregnant" HELLO, my prenatals are prescribed!
I'm 15 weeks and diagnosed with ADHD about 3 years back. I stopped taking it cold turkey when I found I was pregnant at about six weeks just because I'm a nurse and logically....amphetamine and a fetus doesn't mix. But I was already advised by my OBGYN and my primary doc AND a therapist that if I began suffering from not taking it I could be on it. So here I am scouring for proof that others have done it because my work is starting to be severely affected and on top of that this pregnancy brain (seriously I had no idea that wasn't just an excuse) I am making mental to do lists and forgetting about them by the time I get a pen. I definitely will be getting back on mine but probably a different dosage, just enough to focus a little better.

I was like you. Taking 30 mg a day and when I found out I was having my second child I stop immediately and just told myself to hang in there. It was hard but everything fell into place. I was just in love with the thought of having another child and yes I was angry all the time and yelling at my first born but I had to tell myself it wasn't good for the child inside me now. You will be okay if you tell yourself you will be.
