Hi I was just wondering If you had your baby and everything was okay ? I am also on Adderall Xr 20 mg once a day and they keep telling me the Pros far out weigh the Cons I tryed one day to not take it and ran red lights on accident because I wasn't paying attention and left a candle burning when it was almost to the wick without a holder I hate that I have a processing disorder and can't do this like a normal person but I' pray every day that my doctor is right and everything will be fine I know after all the research I cant steady my mind is your child healthy and whole now ?!

I currently have a 2 year old son and two twin babies who are both 7 months old, shocking I know! I too had to face the dilemma of whether or not I should continue to take adderall throughout both my pregnancies. I have been struggling with ADHD-inattentive type my whole life. With my first son, I went off adderall around 14 weeks and then was prescribed Wellbutrin. I was able to manage, but it was extremely difficult. Once I found out I was pregnant with twins, I decided to continue taking my adderall, but cut the dose in half to 15mgxr. I also went off the adderall my 3rd trimester. I am happy to say, that I carried my twin boys to 37 weeks and 2 days and experienced no complications. I am blessed to have a happy and healthy toddler and two 7 months old twins! Ultimately, the decision is up to you! Either way, I wanted to share my positive experience because too often you only hear the negative. Best of luck!

Could you give suggestions on diet? Or a reference? I'm interested and trying to get off adderall and prep my body for pregnancy.

What if you take it for narcolepsy? I tried going without it and almost drove off a bridge and lost my job bc I fell asleep behind the wheel and fell asleep with a knife in my hand at work. (I'm a chef) I've definitely lowered the dosage to a third of what I was taking but, I put myself and others at risk if I don't take my medication.

I took 30 mgs a day for my entire pregnancy with my first daughter. She is 3 and in the 100th percentile for height and 90th for weight. We have no major issues so far. I know there is not enough evidence to say what kind of side affects can occur, but for me, not taking it after 18 years of taking it every day just wasn't an option. I did take days and weekends off when I could, but it was really important that I stay healthy too. Hope that helps :)

It's my understanding that until implantation (5/6weeks)the baby actually doesn't receive it's nutrients from you and therefore the embryo wasn't exposed to it at all. I'm not a doctor, but I've done a lot of research on development so I wouldn't stress-plus stress hormones are dangerous so best to relax anyway. I'd say steer clear from here on out and your baby will be just fine ☺

I took 30mg almost everyday my entire pregnancy. My son is 4 now and his doctor and teacher always tell me how intelligent he is and how much ahead he is in comparison with other children his age.

I sincerely appreciate your thoughts on this. This is the absolute first thread I've seen that isn't bashing other mom's and finally someone who has experience with this, an open mind and knowledge on the matter. Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm still a little frightened my choices have already damaged my baby, it makes me feel slightly more at ease.

Momof4 I completely agree with you. I'm older and my son is now 23 and he has true ADHD and it definitely slows him to a normal pace! I don't think most people understand that!!
Thanks for sharing and Good Luck
