Alternative to methadone????

Here is an article regarding heroin drug use and treatment (page 6 would be what you want to read) put out by the US National Institute on Drug Abuse. The nature of being on methadone is that it is a life long treatment (as unappealing as that may be). While other treatments may be possible, in general the diferences between them and methadone are small as no matter what the drug, you will need to be on it indefinately. Most importantly, it takes some time to come off of methadone because ceasation can trigger withdrawl symptoms. If you are unhappy with your current drug therapy, you should talk with your doctor or pharmacist (your pharmacist should be able to give you, or direct you to more information).
