I am 22 years old and got went to a gyno for the first time. She tried to do a pap sear and it was really painful. She tried the metal contraption thing so after that she tried a cuetip, that still hurt so then she tried her finger. That all hurt. So she kind of gave up and said that we could wait and try next year and that I wont have to do it now.
Every where I read it says it shouldn't be painful. So I'm not sure why it was so much for me. Anyone had the same problem??

First off being your first time and all it is really hard to relax. (After many I still have a hard time relaxing...after all how can it be comfortable!!!!)
Secondly my daughter has painful paps. Come to find out she has really velvety soft tissue. The gyno can touch her with the swab and make her bleed that's how tender she is. Good news the gyno said when you get pregnant it stregnthens the tissue that is now so soft preventing painful paps afterwards.
Maybe your pain is caused by one of the above.
