Had a chalazion removed 4 days ago from inside my lower left eyelid. It took only about 10mins for the entire surgery. The only pain was a sharp quick burning sensation when the initial anesthesia was injected. After that, I felt nothing and talked with the doctor throughout the process. The first night it felt like my eye was very irritated/scratched. I woke up the next morning and that feeling was gone. Now, 4 days later, I still have a black eye but it is getting smaller by the day. Most all the swelling is gone and my eyelid looks back to normal. I will continue to apply the ointment they prescribed for the next 1.5 weeks...

3 hours post removal. It was virtually painless. First, a bunch of goopy drops--I'm not good with drops, but basically painless. Next, the injection was short (under 5 sec) and less painful than a dentist injection for cavity. Then wait for 10 min. Then more drops. Then pressure as the clamp went on, didn't feel pressure on incision, pushed it out, and cauterized in under 3 min. The longer it went the slight more pressure / discomfort I felt, but the awkward discomfort was not pain. Then more drops. Hard to keep eye open at first, but now 3 hours out, a little swollen but no bump. No patch. No blood. A little sore but that's it. I almost wussed out his morning after watching the injection in YouTube. Glad I didn't.
Discomfort:
Drops: 1/10
Injection: 2/10 (a tiny poke and little burn)
Process: 2.5/10 (mostly just discomfort)
Cauterization: 0/10
Post-op: 2.5/10 (scratchy, slightly sore)
The process definitely has a gross factor (eye work, not cleaning--that's no big deal), but don't be afraid of this process if alternate methods aren't working. I had mine 7 months and it wasn't going anywhere. Tried: Epsom, compresses (1/day), apple cider vinegar, and boiled egg without luck. None religiously, but enough to be convinced to get it removed.

I got my chalazion operated on today, surgery didnt hurt to much, but it was a relief to get the clamp off.

fainted after i got up though, and have some bruising to upper body from the fall haha

7 hours after surgery and my eye still has a bump and looks and feels close to how it did pre-surgery.. hope it gets better in coming days

it really depends on how big it is and where it is located. if it's really close to a corner of your eye I recommend getting out under because it will overall be uncomfortable. especially since you will have needles near your eye, that freaks anyone out

Yes I just had the chalazion eye surgery..like 2 hrs ago and I guess it depends on the size of Your cyst.. it was noticeable but not big or effecting my vision bUT something that I couldn't get over everything I seen it in the mirror but yes I just had the surgery about 2 hrs ago and it swollen but gone.. I couldn't be more happier.. I know exactly where it came from.. putting eye lashes on and sleeping with them.. I will never do that again.

I have had one in my lower left eyelid almost a year ago. Drs told me the same thing but mine was also covering 3/4 of the eye lid. The procedure for me wasn't as bad as I thought. They put ne to sleep and cut it out from the back side. After I had it done everything seems to be fine. I do have eye pain and headaches but I'm not sure if it's linked to the surgery or not.
Over all mine went well.

HI all,

I just want to let you know about my experience with the chalazion...

I got mine on the lower lid somewhere in Oct- nov 2015 but I didn´t care too much about it (i know it was stupid) until 1-2 months later. I saw a very good doctor who told me from the begining that I might be too late for the oilment tratement and it might need surgery, but I wanted to try anyway. About 2 weeks or so I tried some eye drops, some gels and hot local compressions. it didn´t help at all . the swallow was the same. After that I left the country so I kind of put this problem on the second place. In July 2016 I finally got the courage to the to intervention. I must say I was terrified. It didn´t hurt at all /maybe just a bit when they did the anesthesia . The hole thing lasted for less than 5 minutes. Now, after 5 days from the intervention I can still see the bump there I just hope it will get better with tim. tomorrow I am going for the 1 week check up and see what the doctor will say.

my advice to anyone experiencing this is not to leave it untreated escpecially if you notice it during the first 2 weeks. You might get a chance to get rid of this the easy way.

Do you think this will work for me? I had my Chalazon for 3 yrs. I wasn't as persistent with it though. I was just doing the hot compress with tea bags. I am going to try this.

After having one for 9 months, I had one removed yesterday. I'm 29 years old, never had one before. If you have one for longer than a few months, just get the thing taken out surgically. It's not worth being self conscious about it for who knows how long. The shot really wasn't that bad at all. They put a bit of numbing drops in your eye and then hit it with a shot for maybe a few seconds. The eyelid was flipped and the doctor was done about two minutes later. Hardly feel any pain today, though there is some swelling and redness. That will go down in a couple days probably.
