Hi, I have a similar problem of remaining scar tissue after two surgeries to drain a chalazion on lower lid. Can anyone advise if the scar tissue may eventually heal a little, or is it definitely permanent? Are there any natural treatments that can fight the scar tissue? I hear fish oil supplements could be worth a shot? Further surgery is not recommended for me since the chalazion has been largely drained, and there are long term risks associated with steroid use, so I don't want to go down this route again. Any advice greatly received! thanks.

Good luck to all with your chalazion issues... I've got one one on my lower eye lid. Extremely frustrating! I tried everything for about two months with no success. Drops, warm compresses and even a Kenalog shot. No luck. I just did the chalazion surgery removal. So far it looks like most has been removed, but hard to tell with the swelling and bruising. Admittedly, the surgery was not fun. Worth it if it works, but I don't want to do that again. Some stinging pain with the injection and some uncomfortable pressure with someone poking at your eye. Thankfully it only lasted a minute or two. I was back to my normal routine the next day. Although I did got a lot of questions due to swelling and bruising if I got in fight. Haha.

I've removed 4 chalazions 2 big ones (in upper lid the outter side of the right eye othe one on the lower lid of the left eye) other were a litter big both in the inner corner of the upper lid on both eyes) the surgery took about 30 mins and since I had local anesthesia I didn't feel any pain it's been four months since then my eyelids are still swollen abit but I've heard that they never go the same as they were before. And btw I've had 2 small chalazions after having the surgery and currently I have one.

I had 2 chalizons on my left eye. I had them surgically removed August 4, 2017, but the bump is still there. When I went in for my follow up appointment on August 22, the doctor said he felt like it was inflammation. I received a steroid injection in both spots which should help he said. I have a 6 weeks follow up scheduled for November 2. In the meantime, my instructions are to apply a warm compress twice daily. As of today October 3, I have not notice a different in the lower one, but the upper one is going down a little.
The surgery was a little painful, but now unbearable. The pain for each one only last about 20 seconds. The after care was ice for a couple of days and then heat the remaining time. The swelling is down within a week and a few days. It wasn't bad. It would be great if it just worked.

I just had my first (and hopefully last) chalazion removed from my bottom eyelid. Due to the size my ophthalmologist recommended surgery immediately. He first gave me an eye drop that stung a little to numb me, then an injection in my lower lid of anaesthia. For me this was the worst part because I kept automatically jerking away and risked getting poked in the eye! Scary stuff. Once I was numb, he put a clamp on my eye which increased the pressure and flipped my eyelid down (assuming this is only needed if your chalazion is on the inside of your eyelid.) then he went in with the scalpel and "popped" it and scraped out the contents. Felt uncomfortable but not painful. Then he went in with a special tool to burn it shut. If you have blackness on where your chalazion was after surgery that's probably because your doctor used this tool to burn the skin to close the wound. He then informed me that the rest of the chalazion is on the outside of my eyelid so he ended up using a steroid injection on that part of it, which was the easiest part of the whole procedure because I didn't feel a thing with all the anaesthesia.

Overall it was an uncomfortable experience and I wouldn't want to do it again. But it is very quick so it's over with soon. Since I just got the surgery I don't know about recovery yet, he said it should not be swollen by tomorrow although I'll have some bruising from the injection.

I have had 3 removals, 2 of which were fine without much incident, pain wise or cosmetically. However this third one today is agony, feels like someone has put something sharp between my eye ball and eye lid and its just rubbing all the time. When my eye waters its like rubbing salt into it! Pretty miserable, its also very swollen and badly bruised. Not at all like the first two.

I just had chalazion surgery, and it has been a miserable 3 days, I feel like I have glass under my eyelid, and it tears up constantly, my vision is blurred and have had to wear my sunglasses 24/7. I am on cipro and prednisone drops, I hope relief comes soon!

I had mine done Friday and like you was in extreme pain on the ride home, stopped at pharmacy to pick up Tylenol as I needed it asap. I had a couple of injections as well, but they did not take, as I felt the Dr. cut both drainage holes, and the clamp was also very painful. He said I know it hurts I will work fast. I also said I will never have it again. After a couple hours the pain went away and I have a purple bruise under my eyelid - hope it goes away completely. Dr said it is caused by stress.
