I have a hardened one on my right upper eyelid, do you just go to any doctor to get it taken care of? How much does it cost to get it removed?

I just had a chalazion removed 3 days ago. I had a small one on my top eyelid on and another huge one on the bottom of my eyelid, both my left eyes. The surgery was literally the worst thing of my life. Even after the doctor applying anesthesia twice, i could feel him clamping my eyelid and then scraping off the chalazion. The whole time during the procedure I cried and squirmed. He ended up not even removing the top one bc i was moving too much. The dr was an as****e the whole time and obviously didnt understand that the anesthesia did not kick in! I want to remove the top one but I will not do it unless I am put to sleep bc its the worst pain of my life. Anyways, 3 days later my eye is VERY bruised which is normal but I am worried bc it still looks like there is a bump there )): i REALLY hope this is just temporary and that with the compresses and antibiotics it will wear down. I really hope i didnt go through all of that pain for nothing.

Surgery not painful at all. Back to work next day

No it's just a little pinch when they numb it. Other than that it's a painless removal

Yes.. I had one done. It was pretty straightforward. The chalazion had gotten quite big and the doctor who did it said that it was one of the largest styes he had seen.

I had mine removed on Wednesday, still healing, still feel a bump under my lower lid though it's much smaller. Want to know if it will flatten and how long will it take and if there is anything I can do to speed up the process as my doctor just gave me antibiotics but no eye drops or eye ointment. Thanks.

Yes had 2 right eye ops and one left with varying degrees of success it's actually granules you have removed it's a local anaesthetic job you can't feel pain but you feel like your eyelid skin is made of stone and the surgeon is scraping the stone with a knife takes about 5 minutes to do and islander for about a day afterwards with a slight black eye a week later lasts about 2 weeks the final swelling may never completely dissappear just leaves eyelid slightly more fleshy or thicker than before and they almost always come back again 3 or 4 years later unless you're lucky n.b depends on how good your surgeon is! Ask how often they've done the op as some regard it as good training and therefore could fail to clear it up 1st time.

Question.., you said you had several Chalazions removed over the past few years. How far apart were the surgeries ? I had a few Chalazions removed three weeks ago. First time I ever had them. Had them 7 weeks before I had them removed. 48 hours after surgery , new ones cropped up! Doc wanted to give me Kenalog injection at the time of procedure, due to a lot of inflammation, I said no. Big mistake. Doc didn't instruct me to use antibiotic ointment either. Another big mistake. Anyway , can't stand these and I want them out now' was wondering if it's too soon after first surgery?

I've had three of these. Unfortunately, they tend to come back. I have another one now. Here's a better way to apply heat: take a clean sock and fill the toe and heel with dry rice. Tie a knot in sock and place in a microwave for about 15 seconds. Feel it on your hand before applying it to the eyelid. Stays warmer longer than a washcloth and less messy. I have had to have each of the three chalazions that I had developed removed in my ophthalmologists office. Didn't hurt, just uncomfortable because hey have to access it on the inside of the lid. Once it was drained, I had to apply Tobradex ointment each evening but lump gone after removal.

Has everybody's surgeries been under their eyelids? I had a surgery last weekend and another this weekend, both on separate eyes and both lanced from the exterior of my eye. The doc told me they were too far developed and couldn't be completely removed from under the eyelid. I got 3 sutures in each eye. He assured me that there would be no visible scarring. We shall see. By the way, I'm from the States and had the surgery done in Guatemala. Surgery was easy, didn't hurt. Recovery is annoying but it's better than 2 giant blobs chilling on your eyelid making you look like a goblin from lord of the rings.

yes I did with Dr Thiagarajah in Denver. He removed it after some other doctor (butcher) tried to remove it and left a scar which Dr T had to remove.
