First I'd like to say,it's nice to hear a good story & that not everyone has had such a bad experience
For me personally on day 8 I'm getting more pain now from how they keep you open whilst doing the op,I feel bruised even in my vagina wall
I get stinging when I have a bm but I would think that's normal & it's bearable at min, your right,it takes a good hour to recover from going to loo
Pain meds are down to neurofen 2 twice a day which I think is pretty good considering,it's a very embarrassing issue to open up about
And also I think your right in saying ppl who recover well don't seem to post on things like this,it would be helpful if they did just to give others who are not having such a good time with it to give them a little hope & advice

I am 4 weeks post op & things are back to normal for me,if you 6 weeks in & still in masses of pain I would say there is something not quiet right, personally I don't think they should offer the op,it's not worth it,the slight pain & discomfort I had before the op is bearable isn't a constant thing,I would never recommend this surgery

Hi! I'm 11 days post op. I feel great, except after BM's. The BM itself doesn't hurt at all, but after, I hurt for 3-6 hours!! It is horrible!! I was just wondering if this is normal?? Sometimes I will have a BM that doesn't hurt much, but then, it's like I just go backwards with the pain :( Tylenol seems to help. Also, I was wondering how soft my stools should be?? I'm taking colace. They are soft, but still formed. Could my problem be that my stools are still too hard??

I had my hemorrhoidectomy in Dec 2015. It is now 8 months later and I can not have a bowel movement unless I take Miralax every day. I have been to the OR for impaction three times. I have seen a few docs about this problem and I am told it is permanent. Should never have the hemorrhoidectomy.

I am 17 days post op. The terrible pain eased up about day 12. Since then I have had that stinging pain pretty much all the time, but especially after bowel movements. The doc's nurse recommended alternating doses of Tylenol and Ibuprofen but it isn't doing much for me. The reason I am commenting is because I am having a similar BM experience as you. 3 BMs a day and sick to my stomach for most of the day. Not sure what to do about it. I see my doc in 2 days and I sure have some questions for that ole boy. This surgery was a terrible experience, but I had to do it as I had active bleeding to the point where my hemos were dropping down into the 6's. I had two transfusions (5 units total) before I got through it.

I had my hemorrhoidecromy 6 months ago, 2 weeks after child birth. After pushing my last child out, that's what did me in... He couldnt even perform surgery because they were too large, and I had to get injections to shrink them first (OWW!!). The night of my surgery at midnight, (surgery was at 7am), I had to go to the hospital because I was unable to urinate. The ER doctor refused to Cath me, or give me any pain medication. It wasnt until 4am, 21 hours after surgery, when we asked for a different doctor. He came in, I remember the look on his face. At this point I was barely even coherent I was in so much pain. I remember him asking for a Cath and pain control stat, and that was it. The next thing I remember was being in a hospital room after being admitted. I spent the next week there with a pee bag and narcotics. After a week home I still hurt badly, and couldnt pass my bowels (2 weeks after surgery). Called my surgeon, he told me to use an enema. So.. I lay out a sheet on my bathroom floor, undressed and did my thing. It hurt so bad.. Then it happened. Intense pain. I got on the toilet and screamed and cried and kicked my wall begging it to stop. Nothing happened except the enema liquid and blood. I lay back down on my sheet on the floor and yelled for my husband. He came in with a look of shock, looked in the potty and all but carried me down and set me in a warm bath. That helped with the pain. He called my surgeon who had me come in the next morning first thing to check for damage. He sent me home with narcotics. A week after this, it had been 3 weeks since I passed any stool.. My body was convulsing trying to push something, anything out. Nothing ever happened, no matter the amount of laxatives I ingested. Called my surgeon again, who had me go back to the ER. The Dr this time, ordered a hospital grade enema. I responded; "with all due respect, if Ive used an enema, and laxatives daily, what makes you think this will work?" His response... Because it's stronger, and goes behind the impaction. I tell him I want to talk to my surgeon. I did, he said go ahead and try. So the nurse walked me to an unused bathroom in a construction area of the ER, where she inserted it (Which hurt like hell). I sat and waited.. 5 minutes later, it came. It came with such a vengeance, I couldnt make it to the toilet. I squatted in the shower area, where nothing but the enema and blood came out. I looked down, and saw the oddest looking blood Id seen. It was so bright, light, and almost gelatinous. It sat above the drain. I made it to the potty where I bled more. I ended up laying on the floor, in that nasty ER bathroom. I just couldnt handle it anymore. The nurse came after a while, asked why I was on the floor, like I was just being silly. Saw the shower area, toilet, and the blood all over me and stood there for a moment, like she didnt know what to do. She then made me strip, got me clean gown and made me rinse off. Then made me walk back to the ER room. The ER doctor was informed with the nurse saying it didn't work at all. He ended up calling my surgeon who ordered them to admit me. The next night I was given GoLytly. That worked to a degree.. I basically exploded, and passed what the nurse said was the size of a grapefruit. Ripped my stitches. They gave me diladaud after that. I spent 3 more days using copious amounts of liquid and pill laxatives until my surgeon did a surgical removal. Great, finally! Relief! And I was knocked out got it. Even better. I spent the next week recovering, with diladaud and morphine on a liquid diet for 7 days. I spent the the next couple weeks on my couch, having to take a warm shower after each passing.
To this day, 6 months later, I have stenosis. A narrowing of my anus.. which makes passing so difficult, and a nightly regimen of 4 laxatives. I still have issues, and without the specific laxatives, I wont go at all. And it still hurts.. theres a burning/stinging sensation with every one.
...I wonder if Ill ever be *normal* again.
It was the worst, most painful experience of my life.

Can anyone talk about how many bowel movements you have had since surgery? My "regular" prior you surgery was once every morning. Since surgery I've had a BM about 4 times a day. The stool isn't too hard, nor is it diarrhea. Just some blood that comes out with it. My concern is the amount that I'm going a day! I'm not eating more than usual, 3 small meals if that and snack on fresh fruit and a couple prunes. I take two stool softeners a day and one teaspoon of milk of magnesia. I'm on Percocet, Motrin and valium. Any shared experiences or insight as to why I'm going so much? We all know how painful it is so I feel like just when I'm recovering from one and feeling comfortable again, here comes another accompanied by the Darth Vader theme song.
