I've been having it for about 2 years now. Im only 19 and the cracking makes me feel like I can never think straight. I always feel like there is a lot of pressure in my head, and I never feel like myself anymore. I feel like it has something to do with all of the anxiety I have. Sometimes it can be very painful, help!

I have had the same thing, but except that it literally feels like an actual cracking noise in my head. I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease when I was a few months old, and everything was fine until I turned like about 11. I'm 13 now and I have told my mom about though last year and we haven't done anything about it. I also was born with one kidney but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I getting really nervous as well

Try non flush niacin 1000mg with 1000mg Vit. C. twice a day {every 12 hours.} Have your liver enzymes checked every three months to be sure it's not damaging your liver, {this is rare but MAY occur.} MK Mason RN

You should get checked by a neurologist. Not trying to scare you but it could be a brain aneurysm growing in your head. Some grow gradually than others. But when they get bigger they're more fragile and are more likely to rupture which can be a gravely serious situation.

I have crackling too- I'm a nursing student so here's my best guess, we learned the brain has a set pressure limit and that it's made up of three things, tissue, blood, and cerbera spinal fluid.. If pressure exceeded 15mmhg then the brain compensates by shifting the csf fluid usually down the spinal tract, blood pressure, coughing, increase in abdominal pressure (digestion) can all increase intracranial pressure, and crackling noises are usually heard with fluid movements, so my guess is the crackling occurs with an increase cranial pressure and a shifting of the fluid

Thank you so much for this, made me feel so much better and not alone. I too find that when I'm on the move, it goes away and when I'm sat down, my brain tenses and the crackling starts. Keep active and busy, push your limits!

I thought I was the only person who had this problem. My wife also heard it, when her head was near mine. Funny thing is it only happens when I think "creatively". I thought it might have something to do with the interaction of the left and right sides of the brain interacting.

Pressure fluctuation. I have had hydrocephalus since birth which slowly expanded my ventricles to the point they are very large indeed. I had surgery to relieve the pressure four years ago and now i get the crackle noise when my pressure varies. It is actually quite relieving because it stabilises the fluid forces acting on my brain.

You are very right. Since my Endoscopic Third Ventricloscopy four years ago i know when the pressure is fluctuating by the ( relieving ) popping/crackling in my head. My brain is very unusual indeed, i have five ventricles, a chiari, arachnoid cyst and hydrocephalus.

Oh Good I am relieved. I just started hearing this brain crackling in June and it was scary. I had an MRI that thank God is perfectly normal and doctors started to look at me and talk about anxiety so I stopped going. I confess healing Scriptures over myself and have if you can believe me felt The Lord just leading me to ignore it and it will stop bothering me. It never hurts.
