Hello, folks. My brother in law had a severe head trauma recently. He got skull fracture, I am not sure which type, but I think he also developed brain swelling. I would like to know little more how these two conditions are linked. I hope someone could answer me this. Bye!

Hello. Linear skull fractures are the most common type of skull fractures. Usually, they are not so dangerous. There isn’t a loss of consciousness or something similar. However, sometimes it can damage brain and make brain to swell. These fractures are known as growing fractures. In that case, prognosis is more serious. In this case skin may or doesn’t have to be breached. I hope someone will fill you in with more details. Good luck!
