brown discharge before AND after period.

I've always had pretty regular periods until a few months ago, or so. Recently, however, almost a whole week before my expected period I'll have brown/really dark brown discharge, then what seems like a normal period, then after those few days w/ my period everything seems all clear. BUT THEN, i have some more brown spotting.

i know it's nothing like pregnancy or any of that, it's just veeery hassling to deal with all the time. anyone know whats up??
