This sounds like my current symptoms although before I had the dark circular blur in my left eye, I had a couple days of small flickering light that varied in intensity. I saw my optometrist, who took pictures to look at the back of my eye and she found nothing out of the ordinary besides a slightly larger optic nerve on my left side (may naturally be that way though). Can anyone recommend who I should consult next? An ophthalmologist?

Hi,
I have the same problem at 54. I work in a stressful environment where you have to multi-task for 8 hours. I am seeing a hazy purple/brown circle in my left eye. The circle covers any object I focus on. Outside of the object is OK. I wear progressives so when I focus on anything I get a hazy image as the right eye sees a clear object and the left a hazy object. The result object is not cripse so I now have eye strain. I went to the doctor but tests show eyes are OK. Would this go away?

Thank you all so much for posting. Even though this is definitely not an answer it makes me feels so much better that you are describing what I call my ‘sepia spot’ in my left eye. After a week a got in to see the doc, and had my second round of eye scans today. I am 47 and definitely over the top in my projects right now. (I think most would call me type A, I just know that I have more to get done, more efficiently!)
I hope it isn’t severe, like some of the posts on here, and I worry for you all.

If you have a fixed hazy brown spot in your eye… you are not alone!

I will post again when I have a few more answers, good or bad.

I have had this several times. The first time I was sent immediately to the hospital I was told that the pump at the back of my eye was taking water in but not letting it out so it pooled and caused the brown circles in my vision.. Since then it has happend twice and I was told it is due to stress. I have found that when I am particularly stressed it happens again, sometimes in one eye and sometimes both. When my stress levels improved it went but on one occasion it took a few months. Two days ago I had to go to the Hospital to have my pressures checked and the stress of that has caused it to happen again, I am also a sufferer of Anxiety and stress. .

I also observed this issue in my right eye. Brown- purple spot at the focus of the vision of the eye. The details mention above are really helpful in understanding the issue. Thanks a lot.
