Hi,
I’ve been trying to conceive for few months now and as a part of checking if I’m ovulating, I was checking my cervix and for the first time I felt a small, rice-like bump. I tried to get an appointment with my ob-gyn as soon as possible, but I have to wait two weeks. I had some trouble explaining the nurse what the problem was and I’m really scared that this is not good. I had one irregular pap result, but that was 4 years ago and ever since then I had normal results. And this bump appeared in matter of days, so that’s why I’m hoping some infection caused it rather than it being cervical cancer. I just don’t know what to do in the meantime, I’m scared it’s cervical cancer and then all my chances for children are gone. Did anyone else had bumps on cervix? Did you find out what caused them?

Hi,
I know that waiting for the ob-gyn appointment makes you anxious and you keep expecting the worst, but if you had all those normal pap screens and you started fertility treatment, chances are that something as serious as cervical cancer would be picked up by your doctors by now. Also, there are other reasons why bumps like the one you described might appear on your cervix. These are completely normal and are called Nabothian cysts. They usually disappear on their own and rarely cause any problems – usually they’re removed only if they grow too big so they start disrupting the normal uterus functioning. Their number and size might vary depending on the time of your menstrual cycle. Of course, your ob-gyn will be able to identify them and maybe you should do a pap screening too, just to ease your mind, if nothing else,
Wish you all the best,
Nicole
