I have the severe burning in my cuticle area on my right big toe. It feels like someone is holding a match to it. It starts at night when I put my feet up on the couch. Its been over a month and a half. I can't figure it out. ALL NIGHT LONG it hurts. Wake up, no pain. Later at night, the fire again. I though, have a fungal infection in the nail. Podiatrist was clueless and told me to look into diabetes. Heres what's weird. This started for me the day after I cut the nail which is thick. I was using a dull large nail clipper. I started on right side of nail and kept going straight across, pushing and pushing down on the clipper trying to get it to cut one straight line across, and it was not working very well. I didn't want to stop halfway across because it was a thick nail and too hard to begin cut half way across. So I went at it until I got almost all the way and then cut it off. I remember thinking, "this might cause some weird nail trauma because it's taking too much force". Well fast forward 1.5 month later. I got severe pins and needles 2 nights ago in my legs all over. Then it went up to my arms. Pin pricks all over. Then my hands. Almost drove myself to the Emergency room but was too afraid I'd panic as i have severe anxiety. I obsessed all night. Night 2 was a little better. This is night 3. I don't have it nearly as bad. Its gone down maybe 85-90% but definitely still tingling. What I've boiled this down to: either worst case scenarios (MS or Diabetes, because my tingling was all over legs, arms, then hands & feet) OR.... PMS. My period time would be in about a few days, within a week prior to this leg/arm/foot/hand tingling. OR... Possible B12 or Iron or folate deficiency. OR... anxiety. This is all i can come up with. But the burning is a total mystery and absolutely unacceptable that not even a podiatrist can say hes ever heard of it. Just wanted to share my experience. There is very little on Dr. Google about to or finger cuticle burning.
