hi! i'm 16 years old and i'm very problematic right now. i haven't got my period for the last 4 months and it kind of bothers me already. i haven't done any sex or intercourse because i have no boyfriend since birth and i am not close to any other boys, thus i focus on my studies. i am worrying if i'm pregnant. i know it sounds crazy but can a virgin be pregnant without sex? you must be laughing right now but ugh! 4 months of waiting for my period yet it's not yet coming. i monitor my stomach daily and sometimes it looks big (or bloated?). because i really want to become thinner, i decided on a diet with almost one meal a day and about 2-3 mini snacks and i eat don't eat rice as much as possible. i started doing exercise so that my stomach will be flat but it only becomes flat within an hour or a couple of hours and then i would just notice that it's bloated again. i started walking for about 500 m- 1km every after class to lose weight/ to flatten up my stomach but i think it's no use. i'm really worried. does someone knows what's happening to me?

Hi Anon,

You aren't pregnant.

See your doctor.  There are some conditions, usually hormonal, that can cause you to not have your period.

Good luck.

really? actually i'm afraid to tell it to my mom because she might really think that i'm pregnant or something. i know i haven't done any intercourse but i felt scared when my teacher told us that one can be pregnant even if a woman gets in indirect contact with the sperm cells. example, i'm swimming on a swimming pool and a man let out his sperms and it got near me and it got inside. something like that. i don't even know if my teacher is joking or not.

For your teacher to tell you that you could get pregnant from swimming is wrong for one if a guy did ejaculate in a swimming pool them the chlorine in the water would most likely kill them off and secondly think of emptying a bag of rice in the pacific ocean then trying to find every grain, impossible.
I'm sure your mum wouldn't jump straight to those conclusions either.
Have you normally had regular periods then since they first started up to 4 months ago?
How long ago did you start the dieting and exercise?
