Hi, folks. I have been diagnosed with meibomitis. I know that this is a dysfunction of meibomian gland. I wonder if Accutane can be the cause of this since I have been using this. I would really like to know this piece of info. Thanks to all who answer my post. Bye!

Hello. Accutane is isotretinoin. It is a form of vitamin A. It can cause dryness of eyes. This could be a good terrain for meibomitis. Nevertheless, you should discuss this with your ophthalmologist. He will tell you if this is related somehow. I am sorry I don’t know some details. Good luck! Bye!

Well of course it can! accutane shrinks your facial sebaceous glands, including the meibomian glands which give tears the oily layer..
Dangerous drug, and im sorry for ur condition as I know it can be really painful.

Well,
To be honest with you I don’t think that your Accutane use can be the main cause of your problem with eyes. Meibomian gland dysfunction is very common problem that causes eye irritation and eye redness. These glands produce oily secretion which is important part of tears. I think that the main reason for this problem is condition called Rosacea. Have you heard about this? I think that you can treat this condition with antibiotics but the treatment has to last for several weeks. You should see your doctor and see is this the best treatment option for you. I hope this helped you in any way and that your problem will go away soon.
All the best,
Nelie
