I've always had good luck with used certified vehicles. Some vehicles are just very reliable (Honda, Acura, VW). Why waste the depreciation expense?

I have always bought used. For the most part I haven't had any major issues from the previous owners. My wife on the other hand will not buy used.

The Pebbs and I have to use financing as an additional thing to consider when buying.
I got my truck at extremely low to nil financing -bought it new.
Pebbs got her Durango 1 year old but the percentage rate was much higher.
But now she can support terrorisism :? and run over bike riders (look out PH)

whenever we buy a car (like every 10 years!) we buy new and keep them forever. our 88 maxima was totalled by a drunk last year; he had planned to drive that one for another 5 years; it was perfect.
we buy (foreign) and find they last forever...... we've had mitsubishi, VW, Maxima, Honda, Toyota. ouch, sorry.
