My son is 18 months old and has been on a roller coaster of sinus infections. I am now seeing my pediatrician, an ENT, and an allergist. We went through a long period of different antibiotics (Vantin, Cleocin, Rocephin shots) and in June they finally did a procedure to clear the mucus from his sinuses. The culture came back fine, but they say that it could be due to the long doses of antibiotics that he had been on. He has 2 nebulizor treatments a day (Pulimicort), and when he has a sinus infection we had the albuterol about 3-4 times a day. He had an immune deficiency work up which came back normal. He has been allergy tested twice already and he has no inhalent allergies only peanut and egg. He has been on Prednisone 3 different times now which worries me (I don't feel really comfortable with the long and short term affects). Because they can't put their finger on the cause of the mucus, they have now asked that we do a test for Cystic Fybrosis, and another test to determine if his Cillia (spelling?) is working properly in his nose. I am at my wits end, I just don't feel like we are making any head way, and he is literally sick every other week. I don't know if I should trust my doctors. Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or any similar experiences? I need someone to guide me.

i think u are right to trust your doctors. cf is mainly based in the lungs and the pancreatic system. my dad has cf, and it doesnt effect his nasel passeage in any way at all. i think you should get the test done, at least that way you can be sure to rule it out.. its better than not knowing.
