First time I googled this. Just out of curiosity. I've had this happening for a few years now. Same thing - end of period, little blood, seeping clear fluid. I started wearing panty shields because it can be a lot. It has a strange odor as well. Not quite urine.
Here's my theory - intercourse age and weight can affect your muscle tone and ability to hold your bladder. If it is urine. Or also the tampon stretches your vagina. I think it could be some extra fluid. Maybe the sexual stimulation idea someone mentioned could make sense the fluid is less viscous than blood so that may be why it can leak out more easily. Who knows! Interesting how so many women have experienced this yet there isn't more of an explanation anywhere.

Hey All! For some of you that get this when your period starts, it's probably an ovarian cyst (sac) breaking apart. I've had it for 20 plus years and I'm 35. I get them about four times over a year. Usually I have very strong periods and pain in the ovary area right before the full on period starts. I woke up today soaking wet and thought I bled through my tampon. Nope it was the water. It took my doctors years to figure out what was wrong till they saw a lot of water in one of the internal ultrasounds. Anyways, hope that helps.

Im 44 and I've been experiencing this for about a year now as well, some periods are very heavy and some light blood with clear liquid, no odor. I thought it was a symptom of peri menopause, but many young women have posted similar symptoms. I never leave tampons for too long, I don't take the pill either. I will make an appointment with a doctor to rule out PCOS or fibroids as this sound like a possible explanation. I wonder if this liquid could be higher albumin in the blood?!!

please read the posts. this is not the cleansing discharge you are referring to. it is not a small amount of egg white consistency fluid. it is a copious amount of thin fluid that lasts for days. like many of the women here, I have been menstruating for over 25 yrs, i know the difference.

Hi, I'm 44 and use a moon cup to catch the blood. This period, I have it full of liquid however the bottom is brownish blood but there is a layer of liquid on top of the blood. clear ish & NO smell.
About two years ago I had horrific pain when having a period and was passing smelly fluid with blood. I also ended up with pain in my hips. I went for a scan, They said it might be micro fibriods however. After having antibiotics for something else it went. I now think this was a mis diagnosed ovarian cyst or infection (which would explain the hip pains)
I'm going back to the doctors about this because this liquid seems similar. Do any of you also have really bad pain during periods? I'm guessing it's a cyst or something like that.

Hi, everyone... I too have been experiencing this and found the blog with the only type of possible explaination I could find. I haven't seen a doctor yet as its new for me but this is helpful, I think. Would most of you other ladies happen to be over 40? Good luck to all!

I don't think your theory is right. I no longer use tampons and I've been experiencing this for the last year. I'm going through perimenopause, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. My doctor blew me off and didn't seem concerned.
