Can you please post where you got your information? I'd love to learn more - I've started getting this liquid since I've started progesterone per doc's orders to "reset" my late ovulation and short LPs. It's odd... and happening mid-cycle (so not during normal period time as much).

I am 47 and am going through the same thing. I believe (my own guess) that it has to do with my fibroids as well-I had large fibroids and my last soon 2 of them were gone and one last one had shrunk but was showing it was degenerating! I wonder if it could be the fibroid degeneration and it's coming out of me! It is also a lot during the time I am supposed to have my period--
Hope this was of some help

I have PCOS and it happened to me last night. I am not taking meds, so my cycle is irregular still. I have never had this to happen, so I am concerned as well.

Yes I have this! Im pretty young (15) so no intercourse obviously, Iv had irregular periods and odd pain but have been to see a doc yet. Recently my periods seem to be normal.. I am VERY light and dont wear tampons but suddenly I feel like I am urinating and my flow has increased. I would run to the bathroom and only water sometimes a bit of blood would come out... So this 'water' thing has got nothing to do with intercourse or tampons(as someone suggested)
Help!

Its not normal... Had it myself.... So far i have found a little information on it.... It can be symptom of fibroids, ovarian cysts, ovarian/fallopian tube cancer and i read something else where the water is within the uterine lining (that isnt normal either) i cant remember what it was called now but i think i read it on the hystersisters website

Hi everybody!
If you leave a tampon or a menstrual cup in for a long time and see clearish liquid, this is a combination of discharge and blood plasma. After blood has been sitting for a while, especially in a menstrual cup that can be worn for a long time (no risk of TSS), the plasma separates and floats to the top. COMPLETELY normal!
If your vaginal opening itches or smells please see a gynecologist though.

So Ill throw in my 2 cents. Im 34, 3 kids and this is my first period since I got my Mirena taken out 6 weeks ago. Ive always haf VERY heavy periods before the IUD but it stopped them completely. My periods were heavy enough that I wouldnt have noticed this because of the sheer volume of blood I would lose. I only gushed because I was doing sprint drills. I thought it was blood too. I take a prescription water pull and Im wondering if thats caused the fluid retention in such a weird area. Just a thought

Hi there, I've been investigating this discharge as I have the same problem at the beginning and end of my period.
I found the following article that seems to explain what it is. Looks as though it's completely normal as the body tries to clean the vagina. There seems to be an issue if the discharge is smelly and can be a sign of infection.

I don't know if people are still posting on her. But I just starting experiencing this! It's so wierd how a tampon will stop the blood but not fluid! And I've had a llllloot of fluid! My friend thinks I'm pregnant even though I'm on my period.

I think this has been happening to me for a while but it was really obvious during my period this week. I know that I have low progesterone but have been suspecting PCOS as well. Some months I have pain around my ovaries during intercourse. I'm pretty sure I experienced a ruptured cyst a few months ago, I had an extremely painful period and had a lot of sensitivity on one side of my abdomen (on the left, so not appendix).
So, my theory is that it has to do with hormone imbalances causing cysts, fibroids and/or clots, all of which produce their own liquid when they burst or are released. There seems to be a common theme of people on this board having hormonal, menopausal and fertility issues (major sign of PCOS) as well as coming off birth control (long term use can permanently mess up your hormone balance). It is not in my case normal vaginal fluid which is a lot thicker and a lot less abundant.
