Hi. I'm a 14 year old male and i was diagnosed with crohns a year ago. My mom also has crohns. Every since I can remember I have also leaked clear yellowish what I believe is mucus from my anus after a bowel movement. After I go it will leak for hours and hours after. Sometimes even the rest of the day. I have to go to the bathroom several times after just to clean up. Anyone who has this knows what it is like. It is semi-depressing and you don't want to do anything. It ruins your life. Its so uncomfortable and you are always feeling wet. It also has a fisshy and poop like smell which is so embarrassing. I need a cure. I have heard of some things that can help. For example cran berry juice, reducing dairy, b12 vitamin, garlic and tumeric. I have heard that herbs act as anti-immflammitory. I also forgot to mention that for medications I am on oral methotrexate, iron, folic acid and vitamin d. Someone please help I'm so young and can't live with this. Thanks

Hi,
Talk to your doctor. Methotrexate can often aggravate (make worse) the leaking or diarrhea you are experiencing. There are other drugs that may work - or have you tried them?
Your doctor is your best resource as they know your history, we don't. Many of the medications used to treat Crohn's have nasty side effects and not everyone can tolerate them.
Hope it helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. When I was first diagnosed I was put on azithioprine (not sure how to spell it) only to find out that I had a terrible reaction that put me in the hospital for a week. I was then moved to the methotrexate injection. It wasn't working the best so we decided to give oral methotexate a chance. I just took my first dose of oral methotrexate on Friday. Talking to my doc soon. Really don't wanna live like this forever. I look online and people have had it there whole lives and don't know how to get rid of it.

Give the new medication some time to begin working - and for the old medication to wear off.
Keep talking with your doctor. They can't help if they don't know about a problem.
