Hi everyone
I'm a 17 year old girl and I am not sexually active. A couple of days ago I noticed some pain and discomfort in my crotch so I decided to look down there to see what was going on and I noticed my inner right labia was swollen. The next day, I had a lot of clearish white discharge, pretty normal smelling but definitely much more than usual, along with itchiness. I was doing some research and I thought I had a yeast infection but I also noticed clusters of red and some white bumps on each side of my labia. My discharge has somewhat stiffened and covers my vaginal region as well as surrounding regions. I took a hot bath today which didn't really relieve symptoms and I'm considering icing the region too. This is my third day of discomfort and now the region is starting to get dry and even more uncomfortable since the already produced discharge is stiffening. There is a somewhat burning and tingling sensation when I pee as my pee is out and comes in contact with the irritated region (so no uti). I also started antibiotic treatment two weeks ago for strep throat but then stopped a week later because I realized I was allergic to pencillin. I switched to another antibiotic for a day which made me violently ill so I stopped that too.

So what do you think I have?? Do you think it'll go away on its own? Have you experienced these symptoms or anyone you know? Please help me and give me advice! I don't want to tell my parents which will be the only way for me to get a doctors appointment. And respond as soon as you can as the pain and discomfort is starting to get worse. Thank you for your time.

Sounds like you may have developed a yeast infection as a result of the antibiotics. The red bumps are common with yeast infections, as the skin is irritated. The antibiotics probably killed off most of your friendly vaginal bacteria, causing the yeast to take off.

Is your strep gone? If you stopped taking your meds for it, it still may be lurking in your body. It's probably uncommon, but the strep may have migrated "down there". I would probably verify the yeast infection, and if it turns out not to be that, I would suspect the strep. There are other antibiotics available when you have allergies to penicillin and sulfa drugs. You should really make sure that it's gone, it can hide in your body and cause health problems later. Not trying to scare you, but you should know, although it really sounds like yeast is the culprit. :-)
