Yep. I had the same thing happen to me today. I had the colposcopy done on Wednesday and Sunday morning felt something literally drop out of me...I was actually in the shower and pulled it out (gross, tmi, sorry). It looked like the end of a condom actually with the coffee ground stuff inside. Totally gross. My dr didn't mention anything about this either...just told me the yellowish-blackish discharge was all normal. So, thank god I'm not the only one experiencing this! If anyone has heard anything from her dr, please post what the heck it really is! :-)

i had my colposcopy last tuesday and i really didn't have any discharge at all. that is until today when i went to the bathroom and felt something drop out. i totally freaked out because it looked like oysters and menudo. i know that is gross but seriously that is what it looked like. i wish doctors would be more specific about this stuff. coffee grounds? i wish! bleeding? i wish? instead i get what looks like the remnants of a mariscos dinner. sigh.

I had my colposcopy on Tuesday and had a little bit of the tissue-like discharge on Thursday and then a large amount on Saturday. I was worried and came to the internet like all of you which made me feel much better. I talked with a friend of mine who is a doctor and realized this is just clotting. I found this from another site which explains a little better:

"Your cervix is always moist so it's tough for your body to form scabs or clots on the little cuts from the biopsies. You could be losing tissue or just the clots that are trying to form to heal it. It really isn't something to worry too much about."

I'm so surprised that these little cuts can cause all of the cramping, bleeding and clots . . . why does being a girl have to be so ridiculous! I'm now discovering that just about every girl I know has had to get a colp and have had abnormal paps due to dysplaysia and hpv. My doc basically told me to use protection until I find someone worthy of swapping viruses with. It's a funny way of looking at it, but we are viral creatures and women have the perfect breeding grounds for bacteria, viruses and . . . babies;)

The large pieces that all of you are describing is from the paste that the doctor puts on to help stop any bleeding. The mustard colored mass can come out in one piece or maybe a few. Do not worry...it is normal. I believe the paste is called silver nitrate. Look it up...you doctors should have explained that to you.

thank goodness other people have seen the same thing. I've been searching and it barely mentions this. My gyn mentioned that the paste would come out but i didn't expect it to come out looking like rolled up skin. mine was yellowish and was hanging out of my vaginal opening. it must have started to dry because it stiffened a little and looked thin and long until it came off the next day on tissue. it could be opened out into like a thin layer that was like yellow skin and it dried up in the garbage. I was so freaked out and it's still coming out. the worst part is i looked with a mirror and it was blocking my opening. but sounds normal. i had a colposcopy on monday, and it came out last night and today. No cramping or bleeding just frightening.

I am so glad to be reading these posts and finding that this is normal. I my second a colposcopy on a Friday and it is Wednesday. On Monday, a piece of tissue came out of me about the size of a quarter. Today, a huge glob about the size of the palm of my hand came out and it was dark brown/red. What freaked me out was that it looked like it was in a sac. I didn't feel any pain or have fever, but I called the doctor right away. They said not to worry but to just monitor myself. They also said the solution the dr puts after the biopsy is used to stop bleeding and it could be the clots separating from the cervix wall. It would've been nice to know this could have happened because I was freaking out, thinking it was a fetus or something. Reading these other posts makes me feel way more relieved.

Oh thank god. I was just going to the bathroom and I felt it drop out of me. I almost threw up. I was so scared because my doctor also didn't mention anything like it. You've all been describing exactly what it was like. Whew. Thank god for being able to look things up online. When I heard about passing the scab, I didn't expect it to be so BIG since they only took a little bity bit for the biopsy. Ohmygod, I feel so much better.

Wow, just happened to me last week. I thought it looked like a bad use condom. I had the procedure done 10 years ago and I hadn't experienced this the first time. So weird, gross and frightening. Thought my uterus had fallen out.

I had a colpo on Friday and a thumb-sized sac of tissue-colored discharge. I, too, thought I had miscarried and didn't trust the doctor's "it's normal, no worries" response until I had read these posts.

Oh thank goodness! I had my procedure done 3 days ago and had the expected coffee discharge and bleeding. Then this morning pushed out a tissue-like sac the size of a rather large goldfish. I was freaked, but you gals have eased my mind. I'll be telling my doctor that he should warn his patients about this in the future. Thanks again!

wow i just nearly threw up when i went to the bathroom and noticed a chunk of god knows what dropping out of my vagina. i was so flaming pissed for a minute there, thinking the doc left a piece of gauze in me. this is reassuring to know it happens to just about everyone. thanks for all of the posts... even though they all say almost exactly the same thing, it is somehow more reassuring to see it over and over again!

I'm also so relieved to be reading all of your posts, and want to THANK everyone for taking the time to put their stories out there. I had a colposcopy last July, and again experienced the coffee ground like tissue the next day, but then on the second day had my a quarter sized piece of tissue-like material come out. It totally freaked me out, and I too thought I miscarried. I know they take a pregnancy test before the procedure, but I thought they might have missed something. So the next day I had another large piece come out, so I called my obgyn right away. They had me come in, and they actually removed the rest of the tissue that was just sitting up in there (sick). I asked to see it, b/c I wanted to know what exactly was in there (NOT a good idea)!! It was exactly what everyone was describing, grayish/skin colored tissue, and A LOT of it! Honestly they hadn't really heard of it happening to women, which is SCARY, b/c clearly from these posts it does. My doc said that people probably just don't call them out of embarrasment, etc, which I completely understand, but still. She said it was most likely a mix of the paste they put up there, dried blood, and excess tissue that came off due to the procedure.

Sooo long story short, if you don't like it coming out randomly in clumps, you can go back to your obgyn and have it all removed at once! So incredibly sick, and it's so sad that women have to go through all of this!! It's scary enough to have the test, but then this fun little shocker afterwards is ridiculous! I hope this helps anyone out there wondering!!! :-)

I wish I had found this sit a long time ago!!!!! It still is a comfort to know im not the only one. Man, a doc goes way bound a friend point by going in there. You would think they would tell u exactlly what is going to happen. When my patch of "what ever" came out i almost fainted !!!! Im a tough girl . However it was a scary movie acting out. but i do have a question ? I am 21 years old "female". I received an abnormal pap . So I had a colposcopy dune a month ago( at planned parenthood) and just had my first period since then . However it doesn't look like blood. It has an brown tint to it. It also is not thick like blood its more thin like water. I still have all the period symptoms. It lasts about 5-6 days . Im worried. I want to know if this is normal. Also when it will go back to normal?

I'm so happy to have found this site. I had a colposcopy done on Monday. I went to use the restroom the next day and notice a tissue like discharge and didn't really think anything of it until the next time the samething happend. I called my OBGYN and she didn't really know what it was. I quest from reading all of everyone concerns this is the normal side effect from the colposcopy. I will call my doctor and tell her that they really need to let women know this may happen. Thank you all so much for sharing your information. If it was'nt for this web-site I would have gone back to my doctor thinking I may had and infection due to the colposcopy.

I also had a colposcopy done on Tuesday. Thursday night I had the clump of fleshy like discharge that everyone is describing. I am also relieved to find this site! My doctor told me that I would have yellowish to brownish discharge and that there might be a lot of it, but I didn't really expect it to look like that. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
