I have pain in the left side of my stomach, slightly above my belly button.
It is more painful when I am sitting and feels better when I am standing up. It has been like this for 10 months and my doctor cannot find what it is and seems uninterested. A few tests have showed no cause of the pain.
The only think I could think of, is that I went to Cuba last year and was very ill while there. I have had this pain ever since.
Other symptoms include: metal taste in mouth, slight naseau (occasionally), stomach pains after eating heavy foods, fatigue.
Thank you

You should probably have some parasite tests done, to be on the safe side, as well as hepatitis tests.

Also, these symptoms sound a lot like acid reflux- try taking some prilosec or other over the counter antacid, or GasX, and increase fiber a bit to see what that does.

I have had problems coming back from central america also, and I think that part of that is due to a change in your community of stomach bacteria. It might shift back to your normal community over time, or you may have picked something pathogenic or abnormal up!

hope you are better now!

I just recently went threw gallbladder surgery. I had the left and right side pain. After surgery, the right side stopped but the left side continues. I was told pre surgery it was all gallbladder, well guess not, I dont have the gall and it is still there.
I have had scopes done and other x ray studies, and it shows nothing.
Of course it would not show parasites.
I have not be out of country, but that does not mean my food has been handled correctly.
I was told by dr that the left side of the body, from bottom rib to hip area in the front of the body, is all intentines. They suggested it was IBS and to get probiotics to get the gut flora back in shape. I had been on antibiotics off and on the last year and was told that it messes up the natural flora of the gut. I have trd this and so far, no relief.
If you find out what it is, oh please share I am out of ideas.
