Well, a month ago I had a panic attack. It was after a very stressful period (failed year at colledge, my parents got divorced, my BF left me, all in a couple of weeks...) so now I understand it. Since then they've occured like... every couple of days. But only for the last 2 weeks I have a constant feeling of pressure in my chest. No pain, but I got scared and went to cardiologist and internist and they've said there's nothing wrong with my heart, no weird sounds in my lungs. Also did a blood analysis and it's perfect. But this feeling is constant, with some short periods when I feel normal, but they're rare. It's really starting to worry me because I can't fall asleep easily and feel more tired every day :-(
The feeling is like something's preventing me from breathing easily. I can breathe in and out but I have to put effort in it.
I'm going to see a pulmologist just in case, but is it possible that this feeling is coming from my head? As I understood, panic attacks come and go, but this feeling's always there. I feel best when I wake up, but when I get up it starts. After just a few steps up the stairs I get short breath.

After reading more articles from this and other forums, I've come to conclusion that I suffer from Generalised Anxiety Dissorder. I'd like to hear some doctor's oppinions here, because I'm not sure I can find a specialist here where I live..

Well it's not so strange, since I'm constantly nervous for like... 6 years now :-D but it hasn't affected my health until recently.

I'm taking B6 vitamin 120mg daily and doctor told me to get beta blocator but I don't want to get started with pressure medications.

I suffered from a similiar condition of panic attacks, which was follwed by generalized anxiety disorder and then subsequent depression.

My suggestion to help alleviate your chest pain is to relax your shoulders and figure out where the pain points are. If you have tightness in your chest, it is likely due to your shoulders being tense or a tight neck. I have studied self accupressure techniques and have found them to be very helpful for alleviating muscle tension and emotional anxiety.

Also, I would not hesistate to use the assistance of a Chiropractor to help you alleviate some of the pain which might be vertabrae that are misalligned -- causing chest pain.

I just wanted to chime in and say that chiropractors help 100%. Maybe not that much but they are very helpful. My mom has this affliction and it helps her more than anything. I hope that it helps if you were on the fence. :-)

I too have been suffering from anxiety and stress for years now. What is working for me is learning the way of the Buddha, meditate at least twice a day (incorporating proper breathing into your daily life). This in addition to STOPPING watching TV. No listening to news. Stop allowing all the manipulation and negativity to wash in and out of your soul. And support and vote for Ron Paul. Practice justice, morality and loving compassion. If we all do this and rid our country of those who are causing us all this stress by messing up our lives and that of others around the world, we will change everything. Namaste.

I'm having the same issue.  I suffer from GAD, but, until recently, the anxiety never manifested itself physically.  I have shortness of breath and constant, CONSTANT pressure across my chest.  I've had several EKGs, an ECG, a CT scan of my lungs, a chest X-Ray, an upper abdominal ultrasound and tons of bloodwork, and everything's normal.  The only thing I've been diagnosed with is mild hypertension, though I suspect my blood pressure is higher than usual because of the physical stress I'm enduring.  I was prescribed a low dosage of Citalopram (anti-anxiety medication) a month ago, but my symptoms aren't improving.  My doctor recommended I stop taking my birth control pills as well, in case I was having some sort of allergic reaction to them.  While my breathing feels slightly better since stopping the medication, the pressure persists.  It doesn't hurt, and it doesn't get worse with physical activity, but it's always with me.  Any thoughts?  I'm wondering if the walls of my chest sustained some sort of damage from breathing irregularly for months.

Sorry i'll start again. I get this chest pressure too. I also get it abit in my head and face, usually with a faint headache. I've been taking meds for anxiety for 2 weeks and feel a little better. I was having loads of wind and belching all the time. Now i belch a little bit and the top of my stomach feels swollen...i say feels because i'm not sure if it looks swollen. When my anxiety goes will all these symptoms go? My periods went haywire and had spotting between periods, this now seems to have stopped, does this mean i am recovering? Sorry i'm just trying to stay positive and hoping for positive answers which will help me recover. I'm trying not to worry anymore...anxiety won't beat me!

This sounds EXACTLY like what is going on with me! Ive been dealing with this for 6 months...chest pressure, belching ALL of the TIME, my periods all out of whack....bleeding or spotting between them. I have been to sooo many dr.s and had stuff checked out and no one can find anything wrong. Would love to talk to you further if you are available. Ive done numerous searches online and have yet to find anyone else that has all of the same symptoms I do.

Hi sweetpea i was back at the docs on friday and she said it is all anxiety/stress related. My symptoms seem to be ok at the minute but i still belch more than normal and get a little pressure. my main symptom at the minute is a weord feeling in my ears that makes me feel giddy...but it only happens now and then ...and only when i'm at work. I think the only way to get rid of it is to ignore it which is easier said than done i know. Do you notice that you don't get all the symptoms at the same time only the one your more worried about and concentrating on...i've just realised this about my symptoms. I kind of think when you get rid of one symptom another one's waiting for me lol. If you want to ask me anything please do ..it would be interesting to see whether you have any other symptoms that i have had. I have taken zantac all week twice a day for the belching and that has helped alot but i'm now constipated lol. The spotting just stopped because i ignored it i think. I still get the pressure but not when i'm busy and it does seem to go if i ignore that too. So this is all anxiety!
