Had terrible itching, discharge, foreign body feeling post cataract surgery for many weeks. Found that faithful eyelid washing, AND following your eyelid wash, flush each eye with PHYSICANS CARE ophthalmic eyewash (I use the 1 ounce size (you can get it on Amazon) and warm it up a bit by running the closed bottle under hot water and shaking, to make it more comfortable. Lean you head back, and flush each eye, rolling the eyeball to help move out all the mucus. It will drip down your face so I use a washcloth to hold down lower lid to form a "bowl" for the eyewash to sit and let the eyewash just drain out of your eye while you squeeze the bottle and let the eyewash drop in your eye. I do this multiple times to each eye, until I feel no more grit. You can actually see the particles if you have like a lighted makeup mirror with 15x magnification. I use this to see what is being flushed out of my eye. This is the only treatment that actually helps. I have done it faithfully twice a day (when I get up in the morning, and in the evening. I tried every eye drop treatment on the market, none of them helped, and sometimes only made my eyes worse. It was a horrible eye experience until I discovered this eyewash routine. Hope this helps someone.

I had surgery nine weeks ago and eye is doing very well. It seems like I got a new eye but I have occasional itching. My doctor checked my eye and told me that my eye healed nicely and gave me medication for dry eyes. It works when I use the drop. I use couple times a day. I will see him after three weeks for final prescription for eye glass.

I am 4 weeks post op and have a very irritated, scratchy, watery eye. The first eye (6 weeks post op) is finally somewhat better, but vision is not yet clear at a distance (Symfony IOLs). I have called the doctor's office again today asking for advice. Not too encouraged by those several MONTHS post op....

Do NOT have cataract surgery. I would give my eye tooth to undo it. Itching all the time and now I have to wear glasses. Am almost totally blind up close. They do not tell you that they will take away any sight you may have. Cannot take bright lights anymore.

i also am having the tears flowing a lot in my right eye after having cataract surgery 12/5/17, but what is uncomfortable is the rash under my eye which seems to be affected by the tears (saline?) causing it to be stay raw. Until the Dr. comes back from Christmas, what ointment can I use to help the burning from the rash?

what is the name of the eye drops I can use for the rash? OTC brand, or what? I had my surgery on Dec. 5th 2017. Do I still need to use the drops I was told by the doctor, or can I go ahead and use a OTC brand? I have my other eye done on January 29th, so I want to not foul things up. Please help me..this is burning and uncomfortable right now. Charlsey

Thank you for your reply. But you did not comment about the OTC drops, or what I can use to apply on the rash under my eye. I would appreciate an answer to this problem
