Sunday evening my boyfriend went to use the restroom, he came back to our bedroom and asked me to look at something on his penis shaft ad head. It was about three small small red dots on his penis shaft. And another small one on the head by the hole he pees out of. He said it didn't hurt at all, no itching, the dots aren't raised, and no burning when peeing. We went to the doctor that night because he thought it may have been the start of a yeast infection. The doctor looked at it am decided it was herpes. We were very confused. They weren't pockets filled with pus, or hurt and we always heard the first out break would be the most painful. The next morning we woke up and he noticed that they were staring to go away. We called a couple of health clinics and they all said it didn't sound like herpes and we should get a blood test. We went yesterday and the results won't be back until next Monday. Is this herpes? Or was he misdiagnosed? He's only had 2 sexual partners, me being the second, the first being a virgin. He's my third sexual partners, the first being a virgin. We have both used condoms in all of our other relationships. Been together a year, and this is the first time anything like this has err happened. I've never had any problems and less than 2 weeks ago had a paps smear.

When a doctor diagnoses a serious STD without administering a test (specially when the tests are common and easy to order) - I wouldn't go back to that doctor. EVER.

The clinics are giving you sound advice.... get a test. Chances are, it's nothing. It could be just a normal dermal reaction to sexual friction (yeah - red spots during friction intercourse are pretty common).

...and why not make testing a regular part of your routine?

It might feel like mistrust - but it's not. Both of you having full STD tests once a year will give you both greater peace of mind (ie: HIV, Herpes, Clamidiya). You'll get to know what to look for - and how to avoid doctors who dont' care to look.
