Quite honestly when it comes to losing weight it is all about being in a caloric deficit. Nothing else matters really. As long as you are eating less calories than what your body needs then you are going to lose weight. Combine that with a solid workout program and you are good to go. My personal preference is this program as I have achieved quite extreme results with it (10kg in 2 months)

However if you prefer another kind of diet and workout then you can always follow a paleo diet or something. Also it is extremely important that you calculate your DAILY CALORIC NEEDS accurately!! For that use a BMR Calculator. You can find many on google...eat 500cal below the number the calculator gives you and follow the program I sent you and you will see extremely good results if you are disclipined.

THIS IS NOT TRUE ! i weighed 294 lbs when i started taking warfrin, I'm now 360, I'm 6'7 walk 3-4 miles a day, my pin level is constantly at a 8-9 from joint pain because of this drug, i take in less then 2700 cal. daily. i was taken off my medication by specialist I LOST 22 lbs in 8 WEEKS. developed a 24 in clot that missed my deep vein, back on the warfrin. back on the LBS in 8 weeks i put on 32 lbs never changing my diet. its not ALWAYS about less calories. I took me 10 years of research to prove this as my DR told me the same thing.

I agree with you both. My face looks chubbier and so does my belly. My clothes fit the same I just look swollen. It is horrible! The other side effect for me is that my hair has been falling out.

I had submassive PE's that were "surgically provoked" in April. May be on Coumadin for a year, or even for life, depending on what my 6 mos. ultrasound shows. I, too, have gained weight, but the Amiodorone I was on for my heart also causes weight gain. I walk and bike and bike and walk, and still cannot lose an ounce. I find I am also losing quite a bit of hair every day. Not sure of what the solution will be......

I agree I have put on a stone in weight, since my warfarine dose has been increased from 21mg to 32 mg per week. Despite being on the same diet.

I've been on coumadin for 4 months now. Had a blood clot that completely blocked a heart artery and caused a heart attack in which I had been flat lined for 10 minutes. The cardiologist put me on 7 different meds for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, a-fib, and blood thinning. I don't have high cholesterol or high blood pressure, and the one episode of a-fib was immediately after the heart attack which could be expected after the amount of stress my heart went through. After 2 weeks, I have had no more indication of a-fib and after 3 1/2 months, I cut my meds in half, except for the coumadin, then I had a long awaited visit to my cardiologist to explain my latest echocardiagram. My echo showed that my heart had gone from 25% ejection fraction to over 50% ejection fraction, which is the lower end of normal. I told him I wanted to switch to natural alternatives for these meds because even with 75 minutes of running and exercize 6 to 7 days a week, and changing to a diet that contains very few manufactured/processed foods, I have been unable to drop my final 20 pounds of weight and I feel lethargic very often and low on energy. I also have deep bruises on my arm and feet, which are caused by exercize, not being hit or anything. I asked my cardiologist for natural alternatives to these meds, asking that, if my problem was caused by blood clots, I wanted a natural alternative to keep my blood thin, and his reply was that there are none and he bluntly told me I would eventually die of heart disease! He was VERY irritated that I was wanting to "leave the program" of prescribed meds. I've met people that have discontinued meds with the same problems I've had, gone to natural alternatives and are healthy and leading a normal life for over 30 years, so what he told me did nothing but piss me off! I realize that the vast majority of the medical profession learns little about nutrition, but it's like they are hand-tied to only what the FDA approves, and that the human body can not heal when it is given the chance without drugs and the medical professions, even when I've seen that it can! After leaving his office, I stopped taking all the drugs except coumadin and replaced them with exercize, lots of water intake, (both of which thin the blood), and alternatives like turmeric tea and arginine, and I'm about to add ginko biloba, (which also thins the blood). Now when I visit the coumadin clinic for a check, they are not pleased that I am off the other meds and are having trouble reaching the target level for blood thinness. After dropping all the meds, my blood pressure returned to normal, (Usually around 118/70) and my heart rate moved up from 47/min. (which can cause blood clots) to rates in the 60's (at rest). The joint pain that was caused by the meds has almost all gone away, and now my only problem is the lethargy and bruising, which is obviously from the coumadin. (I take 2.5 to 5 mg a day). Since no one seems to want to (or can't) deviate from the prescription drugs, I plan on having turmeric, arginine and ginko present in my blood to see what the test result is. (This will upset them, but too bad...I need to find out if these things work or not!) Even the pharmacist at my drug store refuses to take these meds, and he has the same problem of blood clots as I do! My next move is to go see a naturalpathic doctor to see what they know. Our medical system leaves a lot to be desired and there seems to be a very high connection between doctors and big pharma. Like everything else in today's world, you have to do your own research and hope you get it right because if it's not tied to the "system", you are going to be looked at as a freak and an interrupter of the status quo. That's too bad!

I have also gain 17 pounds since I started taking Warfrain a year ago. I don't eat sweets, no fatty foods, no cokes. I exercise and still can't lose any real pounds.

I don't know if I would get off of coudain because a close friend of my got off of it and her husband founded her on the bathroom floor dead. The blood cloth reached her brain. I don't like how much weight I have gained but I am going to continue to exercise and eat and drink plenty of water and eat more fruits.

With the Seroquel you are still losing weight? Maybe it is the Ritilin making you loose weight. All of the others make most people pack on weight quickly. I have taken all but the Ritilin took Dexedrine because it had less side effects. Maybe the motabolism is what is doing it.
