Hi! I have close friend in a hospital. His condition is very difficult. When I visited him I heard that nurse mention CPAP. What is that mean? Is CPAP a kind of therapy, or it is something else?

Hi! From my personal experience I know what CPAP is. My story is too long, so I will explain what CPAP is.
CPAP is continuous positive airway pressure also called continuous positive pressure breathing. Breathing assisted by an outside flow of air. The air flows steadily through out the breathing cycle. This is done for patients who are not able to keep enough oxygen in the blood without help. CPAP may be given through a tube inserted into the throat or tube in the nose. It may also be given by way of a hood over the patient's head. I hope that your friend will recover.
